don't know about gro-bags...more like potato bags. Am currently willing Niamh to wake up so that I can give her a feed and go to bed!!!!!!

Hello!!!
Have we all had our babies now then? Is there no one left?

Report
chilledmama · 05/03/2009 21:26

so...have we all popped then???? Or is there anyone hanging on in there???

Prizes: saga must go to TBM!!!

fastest: who was it that popped on bathroom mat???

most bizarre: I had 5 MWs attending me at home because the NHS wouldn't let me have a MW led birth in hospital. You will never hear more excited women as when they saw DDs bum appear!!!

X-post...great minds think alike!!

dinkystinky · 05/03/2009 21:29

Am pretty sure we've all popped (or at least the regulars have) - still waiting to hear on Ranirani and Dizzybrummie - both in early labour when last heard and due to be induced last week so both must have their bubs by now.

Chilled - it was Laidback on the bathroom mat with her DH delivering (sounds like baby-cluedo!) Now that tale of the midwives and Niamh's bum sounds really bizarre! Sounds like the birth actually went really well - has everything been good since?

OP posts:
Report
SomeMightSay · 05/03/2009 21:30

The whole actively having babies part seems to have gone on forever! Suppose because TBM delivered early.
Should we find the latest who's next list and transfer it to here? Maybe I should update my talk name too since I changed it. Might be good to have all our details near the start of this thread for reference?

Report
dinkystinky · 05/03/2009 21:33

That sounds like a good idea SMS - think the list is out of date though as know Eejaykay and America have had theirs ages ago but list still has them as outstanding... still maybe if we put it on here they can update their details when they next pop on.

Morning

Its only 9.20am and I am in my second set of clothes and DS is in his fourth.

All the phlegm from his cold is coming out - at long last - and he was so sick earlier, milk was coming out of his nose ....poor little thing. Also had to wash bedroom carpet - twice - during the night.

Hope DH feels like shit this morning Dinky and is suitably contrite!

SMS - my DD throws herself to the floor and cries at the slightest thing....my nephew bangs his head on the wall until he gets bruises....its just frustration and temper - and not getting their own way. Its the terrible two's....at 18 months!

Meant to ask....and saw it mentioned earlier....

who is still dressing their LOs only in babgro's? DS gets through a few each day but can't remember when I started to put DD in proper outfits.

AIBU to leave him in babgros for a little while yet (he's 5 weeks on Monday).....haven't got enough outfits to cope with the puking atm.

love the new thread title, how apt. Harry, the little darling, is feeding every 3 hrs day and night - at all of you who have babies sleeping for 5 hours at a time. We also had our first projectile vomiting episode last night - he was fine afterwards, think I was more upset by it than him (particularly as he vomited on me...). On a serious note, i am a bit worried that he may have reflux - he possets and while he feeds he writhes around sometimes. Does anyone else have a baby with reflux? Do you give anything for it?

My mum and dad are going home tomorrow, having been here for 1 month and 1 week respectively I am rather terrified at the thought of being on my own all day and only having 1 pair of hands to do everything. Who's going to bring me cups of tea and cook dinner now??!?! (and do the washing up, washing, cleaning and nappy changing. Man, I've been spoilt).

Will try and keep a bit more up to date with MN, I'm out of touch with you guys and can't go back and read c. 500 pages of posts....

I would be livid if hubby did that too, your plan for tonight sounds right, although the drunkeness on his part means not quite even yet!

sms nice about your ds stroking luke, hope it gets easier

Pinktulips What is cluster feed? heard you mention it, I am intrigued (sp?)

littlemissnorty I just can't believe how much washing there is! And as soon as me or Isobella have something clean on thats when the poo/sick arrives, I dress Isobella in clothes now but they soon run out and I have so many babygros she ends up in those most of the time

Well were are all mums now, it has gone so quick already. I've put pics up of Isobella on FB I am so in love it is unreal. xxx

spotty

My poor baby has two babygrows that fit him properly and a few nighties . I don't plan on getting any more as hopefully he will be in 0-3 soon enough and I have loads of clothes that size...

I think babies are fine in just babygrows until they are crawling/walking/going to school and having the piss ripped out of them - or is that a step to far?

dinkystinky · 06/03/2009 10:34

Morning ladies. I have a very hungover and suitably contrite DH this morning (who was getting no sympathy whatsoever from me)so he is back in the DH camp and my potty mouth has been put away for now...and he has promised to come home asap from work tonight to help with the boys... He was blaming a work colleague for getting him drunk on the train back from Manchester - I pointed out he is an adult now and could have bought a sandwich to have with the millions of beers or actually just said no to one of the beers.... eejit...

Nkweto - glad to see I'm not the only one with an occasionally idiot husband! Hope he made it up to you big time. Glad you had a nice birthday.

Eejaykay - read your birth story: am glad it actually went so well (sounds like you had a manic nesting fit in early labour ) but at the midwiveds telling you to push when you werent fully dilated and at evil midwife commanding you push on your back (that is the kind of thing that gets my potty mouth back out) - how very dare she take you back to the medieval ages; no wonder you got tired and needed a drip to help kickstart things again. Am glad the doctor was lovely and supportive and really glad for you that your little man came out with minimum intervention - well done on pushing him out. I found DH was better with DS1 after the birth as he did EVERYTHING for him while I was recovering from the birth until he went back to work so he was the one telling me off about changing nappies, how to settle him etc. - however things soon moved over to me being able to read DS1 better once I got better and was able to do things my way. I ended up telling DH that I was so happy he'd found his way with DS1 but I needed to do it too - and he backed off and concentrated on looking after me (though made sure he still got a good few hours of quality boys only time in a day with DS1).

Pempe - sorry your folks are heading home but it will be fine honest. It's always terrifying when you're left home with your baby alone for the first time but it kind of works out - the housework will fall by the wayside for a while (but hey, that's the way it is in the dinky household anyway - apart from laundry as the washing machine is on 24/7 with snotty toddler and husband, weeing pooing vomming baby and mother clothes etc. - feels like am living in a chinese laundry at the moment) but you'll be brilliant at reading your baby in no time at all. And projectile voms - yup, they're scary but I think the little ones always feel massively better afterwards (Danny did a lovely one all over my bed at 4 this morning but looked so happy afterwards). Never had to deal with reflux but I think they scream in pain during and after feeds if they have proper reflux - is Harry like that? Maybe someone might be able to help on the bf board??

LMN - glad the phlegm is coming out of DS at long last but god sounds like you're living in a chinese laundry too! And as for dressing babies in proper clothes - like Swampster I'm a massive fan of babygrows as they just look so damn cute in them (and yes, I admit it, I want an adult sized one for me to poddle around the house in) and they are so easy to pop them in and out of. Think we started putting DS1 into "proper clothes" once he started fitting into 3-6 month clothes at around 2 months old but I missed those babygrows...

littlesez.... cluster feeding is when they pop on and off for hours on end... usually in the evening. rather than having a feed and sleeping for and hour or more they feed, doze for 5 mins, feed, doze, burp, feed, doze..... can go on for hours but is brilliant for them and your supply and if you get yourself comfy on the couch with some crappy tv it's really less tiring than trying to get them settled in their cot/basket and getting frustrated when they just won't settle to sleep.

LMN... with my older two i was completely mad and had them in outfits to go outside in from 1 week old this time i've grown a few braincells and aaron lives in babygoes, soft pants with long sleeved tops, rompers over long sleeved vest and the occaional very soft little outfit.

when i look at some of the really uncomfortable looking outfits i used to put on dd and ds1 i cringe as they can't have been comfortable have resolved that aaron will only be wearing soft comfy stuff for the forseeable future.

ds woke up at 7.30 screaming in horror at the flood of snot he'd produced [sigh] great start to the day when feeling pretty muggy and ick myself he's camped out on the couch with the tv on but will be dragging him to toddler group as i really can't be stuck in the house all day with us like this!

pempe, sorry you're parents are heading off and you're having to go solo..... it'll be fine though, like dinky said ignore the housework and just focus on dealing with harry... the other stuff will gradually be reintegrated into your routine as you get more confidant and find your feet as a mother.

dd had reflux, possetng a bit is perfectly normal, all babies do it and even puking a bit is normal enough. reflux is excessive throwing up (with dd is was most of every feed meaning the feeds went on for hours as she was never able to get full) and/or pain after feeding. dd couldn't tolerate being flat on her back at all, and feeding would often cause her to scream for hours in agony. the writhing while feeding could just be wind or him coping with your let down, if he's not letting go and screeching i doubt it's pain really. that said if you're worried ask whatever HCP you see after birth over there.

Pinktulips - DS1 has spent most of the past week infront of the tv being dosed up with nurofen infant (brilliant stuff!) and having his bogey-bogies wiped out his nose... oh the joys of motherhood... Sorry your DS1 is suffering; hope its over soon. Hope Aaron manages to avoid the cold.

I mentioned top ups to her (dp has been going on about him not getting enough milk and that he needs a top up) and she said that she would weigh him to see.... After weighing him she said there is no need for a top up and that my boobies are doing a great job... He is now 9lb 7oz so has put on a lb in a week.... yay........

So I am feeling much better this morning and DS is sucking a dummy as we speak.....

Been to my first playgroup since Jacob! Saw some friends, DS2 had a whale of a time, popped in on my mum on the way home (she lives round the corner) and he insisted on staying at hers for lunch !
