We have run out of space so thought I would start a new thread.

Pavlov-hope you are OK today hun.

kayzed-well done to Roshi

Gave Sophie some SMA (5oz but she only glugged 3oz ish down) she zonked out immediatedly on her gym mat. Poor girl must have been starving the way she uh, uh, uh when she saw the beaker.

Mum and dad coming in a mo. Dad is tiling and mum and I are going to paint the ceiling. DH doesn't know so watch out for me on the relationships thread later.

Bloss-get you on the homepage! How do you do tips?

Better go-love to all and will catch up later.

Morning ladies!!!

Nice one, HC, thanks for the new thread. Good luck with the DIY I'm sure your DH will appreciate NOT having to do it!
My in-laws are down (I know you can sympathize with me here!) but are actually behaving themselves so far, apart from the usual commments, but I've been drunk both evenings so far so I've been ok!!
They are getting on with getting the decking down in the garden. Yesterday, I got home to three new fence panels and a pile of wood...
Oh I didn't have my ice cream yesterday, but I did some MNing (just lurking mind) and then went to Topshop and H&M in Oxford Street. In and out fast, it was too busy for me! I did get a lovely top in Miss Selfridge though, and a linen shirt for DH, which of course had a funny collar... no pleasing him! A young mum and her very small baby had just puked up on the floor in there!! Poor thing! She was giving her DP instructions on how to find the muslin cloths in her bag! Bless!!

Bloss, can I please have your autograph, you are famous!! Brilliant vid, so cute your boys!!

Pav, hope it works out for you regarding work, You gotta do what you gotta do and your baby girl will love you no matter what!!

KZ congrats to Roshi on her crawling!!!
And Skay!! Wow!! Climbing the stairs!!! Brilliant!

Must go, hello to everyone else.

Hi girls,

Just popping in to say hello. Sorry the visits are few and far between these days, but the no tv rule during the day, means I shouldn't really be on here either. (Shh dont tell the girls). And i'm so tired in the evenings at the mo that am retiring to my bed just after the girls go at 8 (sad I know).

Sickness is still lurking around the Dollies at the moment. I myself am just getting over a nasty vomiting bug. Which really hit me for 6.

Bloss- your boys r so cute! I might have to give that a go too.

Taking Jazz to the doc's tomorrow (by request of HV's), just so they can tell me what I already know. That she is fine, just petite. Waste of mine and their time if you ask me but there you go.
I'm afraid I havent caught up on the old thread, too little time (too big a headache).

Hope you are all well and your lo's are happy and healthy.

Big hugs

Pink

HC - yes in the short term Rice Milk (the Calcium version) is good as a drink (I add Emma's vitamin drops to hers, she has about 5oz a day). It's not a milk substitute as it doesn't contain much protein, but is okay for a drink. Make sure there are plenty of other proteins in the diet from meat / pulses etc.

You should investigate alternatives to raw cow's milk / dairy products as well to make sure she is getting enough protein as Rice Milk won't be enough. May be worth trying SMA or one of the standard formulas again, if she's still sicky then the alternatives are soy formula (eg Wysoy, you can buy it at the supermarket) or one of the hydrolysed formulas (on prescription from the doc).

It's recommended you check with the doc re soy formula as well. Basically I think the reasons are that some babies who are allergic to cow's milk protein are also allergic to soy so you need to watch out for that. There have been some concerns due to its oestrogenic effects, however the paed said to me yesterday that this is more of a concern with baby boys than girls and she is prepared to recommend it as it is more palatable, widely available and at this stage of their development is not the main part of their diet.

Hydrolysed formulas are made from cow's milk but have the molecules smashed up so they don't cause the allergic reaction. They are often not very palatable though.

Hope this helps - sorry for the essay (can you tell it has become something of an obsession recently )

Apparently about 2 to 3% of all babies are sensitive/allergic to cow's milk protein, so that's actually quite a lot when you think about it. I don't think lactose intolerance is nearly so common in babies though. If you google it you can find tons more info of course.

PS Bloss - yes I can see it too - how fab!! Have only looked quickly as I'm at work and it's a bit noticeable when there are giggling babies on screen , but I'll have a proper look when i'm home later xx

Bum - just arranged lunch with a new mum friend for tomorrow but she's jsut left a msg on my phone to say that her DS has suspected chicken pox. Should I risk it?

Report
Ceebee74 · 17/04/2007 13:00

Mae - I would be tempted as I believe the earlier they get chicken pox, the easier on them it is - my sister is dying for her 3 to get it over and done with - so much so that she is one of these that would send them to play with someone with it

Report
IamBlossom · 17/04/2007 13:37

hmm. IME, if you go it is VERY likely that your DS will get it. But as CeeBee says, there is an argument for getting it early.....

Hello peeps, back again! As before the big thread got too much for my computer (don't know why, it's a shiny and powerful recent one) but I try to read the thread now and again so I know vaguely that most of your LOs are way ahead of Thomas!

Here we have two teeth at long last - they made an appearance within a week of each other after much dribbling but no other symptoms (hooray!). He's still a bit of a porker and happy to sit and play, no sign of wanting to crawl off. I doubt his limbs would take the weight Anyway I'm happy for him to stay rooted to his playmat for a bit longer, as DD1 was a very early walker (9.5 months) and we were totally unprepared for the chaos that brought about!

Bloss - what gorgeous boys! I love it when they entertain each other.

Hope the sickie situation improves, HC, sounds grim.

And of course big congrats to Mrs Algach!

Must feed the hungry one now... but it's nice to be back

HC- just a quick one. Hope your DIY efforts are better than the ones in this house. My DP has been doing our house since BEFORE I was preggers. I am still using extension cables in the kitchen and the bathroom has looked like this for a couple of months now. I don't even have a flush, I have to pour water down the toilet after everyone goes. (well just the kids, not DP).

Will be back on later, supposed to be doing DP's books atm, but is tres boring so thought I'd have a little gander what you were all up to.

See you all in a while

Love

Jeanie

Hi everyone

Was searching for a new thread all day and actually started my own - doh! So ignore it if you come across it...

Hope you're feeling more positive, Pavlov. I'm sure your DD will love nursery and she definitely won't hold it against you. Don't feel guilty about any of it - you're a great mum - she loves you to bits and she'll benefit no end from the social interaction at nursery (as well as strengthening her immune system from the countless bugs she'll get initially...) Ry loves his time at nursery - sometimes I get envious that he seems to like it a bit too much!

KZ - sorry you're so sure Chili's spots (great name btw!) are vitiligo - I'm sure treatment has improved no end, as you say. Medical science can do wonders these days. Great news about the lovely Roshi crawling! Ryan can shuffle backwards and apparently keeps getting stuck under the cots at nursery

Sorry about the cow's milk allergy F@F and your suspicions too HC. They do say that cow's milk is generally badly tolerated and we drink too much of it in the West -but that's little consolation when so much food contains lactose. Some kids grow out of it, don't they? My Dad developed it in his 50s but still eats cheese etc - you can always tell when he's been naughty, sneaking dairy products, as his (already) large nose balloons and he sneezes loads!

CeeBee - what day is your birthday on???? Mine is on Tuesday, April 24 - when I'll turn a whopping 33. My parents fly in tomorrow and have offered to babysit on Sat night so I can go out on the mash with my mates. Having said that, Mum then asked if I was going to be "late"?! What - does she expect me back by 11pm??? People don't start going out in Madrid till 10pm!

Great Home Page tip Bloss. Will blowing up condoms suffice? (since there's not much need for them in this household at the mo.... ) FAB video! Your boys are GORG

Have updated Ry's blog and there are a couple of little YouTube vids on, if anyone's interested. Gonna make him a Star!!

Hugs to everyone. Impy xxx

Well ladies, ceiling painted twice and all tidied up. Am now sitting down with a glass of Blossom Hill. DH due home any time. Have got a couple of spots of white paint on the carpet tiles but have been hinting at changing these anyway.

Jeanie-thought my DH was bad. Well actually he is. Our ensuite has a toilet and vanity unit with basin. There is a towel warmer and a shower tray and nothing else. Just lovely plastered walls.

Bloss-fab clip of the boys. I must register on YouTube and take a vid with my phone.

First-thank you for the milk advice. After bathing her tonight I picked her up and she projectile vomited down my top. This was before I offered her the SMA Gold which she refused. So total milk today-approx 3 oz.

Impy-Ryan is a star already

french-good to see you again. We will have to keep our threads short methinks. We are just too chatty.

Ceebee-Josh is growing isn't he? Nice pics.

pink-nice to see you too. Hope the girls perk up soon. Yes, she is just lovely and petite.

kayzed-didn't know Graham Norton has vitiligo. Can't see it on him.

Maewest-personally, I wouldn't go. Maybe go in a couple of weeks when the catching period has ended.

Holby on now so better go and enjoy. Oh, trouble with painting is that my mum and dad saw all the dust on the lights, top of the cupboards and doors. Must spend less time on MN.
