Hey Alibobble you look so lonely on your own! I thought I'd join you!

Welcome back Diddle and congrats on your pregnancy. If I remember correctly you're off to Florida soon like us. We're going in 11 days and I can't wait! I can't remember if you're going before we come back (May 4th) but let me know if you want any tips. I can't believe that only 2 months ago I was so worried about what DS would eat on holiday. Now he'll eat anything and I hardly ever use the blender anymore. It's funny how they come on so quickly.

Well done alibobble (and DH for title) - replace cat with dog and it pretty much sums things up here! DD has really found her feet - it was only about a month ago that she started pulling herself onto her knees, now she's onto her feet and as of yesterday started tentatively cruising along the sofa. Can't believe we're on the home straight through to their first birthdays....

Hi all, thought I'd join you too. I was wndering what kinds of things your LOs are eating now. We've just progressed onto the annabel karmel risotto which DD isn't too sure about but she's now pestering me for what DH and I are eating. Think it may be time to stop faffing about with making her own food and am going to start giving her what we're having. She'll be 10 months on 22/04...is it too soon?

Supersaint, thank you and yes we did chat about Florida, we go in 20 days i can't wait so excited. we leave here the 29th April so well be there at the same time.
We're in the same situation too, no need to worry about food anymore, DS will eat anything, i think i just needed it all mentally planned in my head.
we'll have to compare when we come back. where are you staying again??

Rachelpross - Hi, DS is 10 months the day after your daughter. He has been eating our food for about a month now, e.g. yesterday he had chisken, peas and roast spuds. i just chopped it all up really small and added a bit of weak gravy to moisten it. he loves it. will eat big lumps now too. if i hand him a whole banana he will demolish it, just bites chunks off.
But he does have 6 teeth which i think makes a big difference. I just started trying him on the odd large piece of soft stuff, like banana and boiled potato, something he can break down easily and he's progressed wonderfully. Good luck.

Mitchell81 - thanks for the congrats. no i'm no longer childminding.
I originally planned to return to work after 6 weeks of DS's birth.
But once he arrived i was totally overwhlemed by my feelings for him, and we did a few sums and worked out that i didn't need to work really. I wanted to be able to let DS have his own routine and no have to be rushed off for school runs etc.
So i went back to work my notice after 6 weeks, and gave up about 8 weeks after that.
It caused a lot of hassle with the parents of the kids, but i defintly made the right choice. although i knew i would cope with them and DS i didn't want to cope, i wanted to give DS all the time i could.

I might go back to it once my kids are at school, but not before then.

Evening all,

Thanks for setting up new thread Alibob..

Second last day of dh and my hols - its been so lovely being off for a week and a half and spending time as a family. DS has loved seeing more of his daddy and is now quite the daddy's boy! They were watching Toy Story 2 tonight sitting side by side - it was a Kodak moment

'Operation Garden' has gone well and we now have some lovely flowers and plants and no weeds - well not until they return..

Food wise DS is taking his meat much chunkier although he still only has 2 teeth so I'm still keeping things emi soft. He had his first bit of easter egg yesterday which I then polished off.

Back to work on Wed - grr, only 10 weeks 'til Cyprus - let the bikini hunt begin.

Hello everyone not been on for ages ... to be honest it's been that long it would take me weeks to read all your posts! Hope everyone is well though.

I'm very stressed (just for a change ) because we should be moving house at any point. I've been back at work for just over a month now on a part time basis and it's been ok. It helps that DS loves nursery & has come on a lot since going.

DS Update ...

  • 10 months old on the 18th.
  • Has 4 teeth on the top, 3 on the bottom.
  • Last weigh in beginning of Feb DS was 21lb 10&half oz.
  • Full crawling most of the time now but commando somedays.
  • Loves moving a little then sitting up.
  • Recently pulled himself up to standing with furniture.
  • Unstoppable in his walker. Will run into things on purpose!
  • Eats most things except when poorly.
  • Loves fireplaces, his nan's oven & banging his nan's kitchen cupboard doors.
  • Loves nursery 2 days a week & 1 day with family while I work doesn't even look at me when I leave him.
  • Likes to chat. I think he has said mum a few times and started with dad. But we aren't sure. It's funny how he can be making different noises that don't sound much but DS thinks he's having a conversation. Saying that we keep hearing the same sounds so must mean something.
  • Been whingy all weekend & high temp.
  • Just got rid of conjunctivitis.
  • Always seems to have cold.
  • Has Eczema which is going through a good spell at the moment but worst case can look like burns .
  • His Aunty with whom he has had close contact has just had chickenpox, waiting for that one now.
  • Sleeping well (except when poorly or teeth) ... Bath 6pm, Bottle 6.30pm bed by 7pm up 6.30am-7am.

Are there any thermometers that anyone can recommend? There are the one's you can put in baby's ear but I don't know if DS would let me do it. Any help much appreciated. Take care.

Waswondering - Thanks. I know what you mean about the car seat. My DS hated for the last few months being in the rear facing seat. He now loves his forward facing seat.

DD is now 25lb 4oz, crawling about like mad and tipping over cats bowls, chasing cats around etc. She eats most things....also loved hot cross buns, toast, baked beans, risotto, pasta and chocolate easter egg.

I'm not going back to my old job Alibobble, have decided to set up in business from home instead...scary prospect.

We're also now mid house renovation...not living there tho thank goodness. house is presently covered in scaffolding, a\wall has been demolished and all the ground floor plaster has been hacked off. chaos rules. so i'm currently project manager on that, also a scary prospect. as am spending all DH's hard earned savings on it...eek

DS is 10kgs, not yet crawling, but nearly there. Moves around on his tummy. I am a SAHM mum, will be moving into our new house in 1 months time, can't wait. DS also enjoyed easter eggs and hot cross buns. Is there anything they shouldn't be eating at this age?
Waiting for his forward facing car seat to arrive, he is looking a bit squashed in his maxi cosi cabrio.

WW same area in Aboyne, just 5 minutes down the road, next to the primary school. How you feeling about returning to work?

Report

alibobble i'm not going back to work. you're not alone its great being at home, although i do have an online business as well as my previous job, so i still earn a little bit, when i get the spare chance to do any work. which at the moment isn't very often, and as soon as number 2 arrives may become never.

Vbab - DS sounds like he is doing great. We have the braun ear thermometer, and DS is fine with it, takes a while to keep his head still, but he's easily distracted.

Rachelpros - glad to hear someone else has a nice 25lb baby, DS is 25lb9 this week, bless him, he's so chunky, just makes me want to eat him up. What business are you setting up?

Well if we're not all moving hosue we're decorating major jobs. we too are renovating, the kitchen and hall has no floorin, the lounge has no wallpaper and all i want is for the garden to be done for the summer. luckily baby2 is going in the same room and DS so no decorating needed there, unless we have a girl, then i might add a touch of pink at one end and blue at the other.

mitchell81 - i don't think theres much they can't eat now. until they're 12 months i was told that most foods we that we couldn't have in pregnancy we can't give them now. Like soft cheese etc.

ww - we have a lovely haar this evening - must have floated down from Aberdeen!

ds pushed his push along walker unaided for the first time tonight - way to go! The look on his face was a picture - .

It just seems like all of a sudden he is this wee toddler, and seems to know what is going on big time!

Still looks like my wee lamb when he is in his jammies tho'

We had lovely sunny weather, about 21'C. Very warm even had DS in his sisters pink barbie pool. Can't believe its the middle of April and so warm. Here's hoping the good weather continues.

Diddle - we're staying on International Drive. We've never been to Florida before so I don't know if that's good or bad but it was alot cheaper than staying at the Disney hotels! I'll keep a look out for someone with a 10 month old DS who looks about 5 months pregnant!!

DS seems to be developing so quickly and doing new things every day. He now pulls himself up to standing on anything and anyone who stands still for longer than 2 seconds! I must remember to put the loo seats down as they are just the right height for him.

Supersaint - International Drive is a good place to stay for a first visit, Theres lots of places in walking distance as you will find out. Its very very busy, good transport from there too, lots of buses, will you be hiring a car?

yeh look out for me, i'll be waddling around. if you're in magic kingdom on the 29th April, we'll be there in the evening, having tea there at 8pm. can't wait, its all getting very exciting, just need to start packing really, only 2 weeks away.
