angel care monitor lead very short- how did u fix it high enough for camera to see into cot?

Hi

Im trying to set up an angelcare monitor, the lead from the sensor mat to the monitor is only about a metre and has plastic casing over it telling u to run across floor then up to a bedside cabinet. But you have to have the monitor a metre from the cot! It's nowhere near long enough to place the monitor on anything high enough for the camera to see into the cot. Ive been at it 2 hours and feel like returning it but I liked idea of sensor mat and video. Can anyone who has one enlighten me at all as to how they rigged it up- am I completely missing something? Thanks in advance
