Oh my goodness a new thread already!

Sorry about your disappointment yesterday posmork. You may have to start investigating online selling instead. DH buys a lot of rare books online from teeny tiny sellers who have stacks of books in their garage.

DS slept well, I suspect he was on top of the duvet in just his sleepsuit all night but hey, who's complaining! It's bloody hot here. DH (still the fave this morning Hmm ) has brought him off to the beach at 8.30 this morning as it's already so hot and DS is so hyper.

Means I can go to the supermarket in peace though. Boring, but helpful.

Love the thread name!
Yeah, very much in two minds about whether to persevere with the book thing. We'll see.
Cloudy and drizzly here, but off to meet an old uni friend today, who hasn't met ds, so that should be nice. Have lovely bank holidays guys! X

Maybe take a break for the summer posmorck, people are always more inclined to flake during the summer months. Disappointing for you though. Maybe you could sell on a few bits of your ds's baby equipment over the next few weeks to keep you going?

Anna how fab to have your dh around for the summer - bliss to not have to do anything! Dunnes crocs sound like the way forward if they have sizes small enough for dd's miniature feet.

Thanks for the new thread mrsA.

Ha! I meant 'bliss to not have to do EVERYthing', not 'anything'. Would be nice if you didn't have to do anything at all Wink

Oh no its great now that I'm 6 months pregnant and starting to get painful spd in my groin and am moving verrrry slooooowly. Even though I slept OK last night I'm starting to feel perma-knackered in the heat. Oh well. I've no one to blame but myself!

I'm pretty sure those faux crocs start at a 4 but can't be 100% certain as DS has been a 5 for ages now. Would she get away with a 4? The boys ones come in red and navy (we got red) but I'm sure there are the equivalent in pink glitter! Dunnes really really believe in gendered clothing. The girls section looks like Elsa from Frozen puked up all over it. Grin

Tell me about it Hmm and often girls' summer shoes are the most appalling quality, all hard plasticky straps and fiddly bits that can't be good for children's feet. Tend to always gravitate towards the boy summer sandals for dd1. But a pair of red crocs each would be a great start really.
Sorry about the SPD Sad

Agree halfstar, both DD's winter boots and summer sandals were boys.

Trying to give up sugar as of today... cravings already so bad!

Found you all! Thank you MrsA for the new thread!

So far DD has been in her Clarks "allseason" boy's shoes, that one weekend when it actually was nice weather she was barefoot all the time (we stayed in the garden all weekend), the rest of the time Clark's have been all right.

I have bought these canvas shoes for summer, cheap as chips and should be comfy for hot weather:
www.mothercare.com/White-Broderie-Canvas-Shoes/LH3689,default,pd.html

So far size 4 is touch too big for her, we put them on at home and about 30 mins later she had only one shoe.

Anna you got it spot on about Elsa's puke all over. Every time we go for shoe shopping, I have the best intentions to get her girls shoes, then I have a look at them and ask shop assistant to bring out the boys ones. Those white ones are rare case of her having girls shoes.

We have been away for the weekend. Every time we are out and about with DD it strikes us that other kids her ages are happily sat in the pram, while we struggle to get her in pram for 10 minutes. She has turned into proper Little Miss Independent, gets really frustrated that she has to go where we want. So on Saturday we went to NT property and decided to let her go and we would follow her instead. She was very drawn to the centerpiece fountain in the garden and was trying several times to get into the water there. Apart from that she was rambling around for good 3 hours, DH and me were knacked and needed to sit down. And all that time she never shut up. So I started to think that when we go on holidays to visit my family I will not even take the pram with me. What the point to drag it on top of two cases and backpack if it doesn't get used?

DD has been walking up to random people stretching out her arms asking to pick her up. Yesterday I was holding her and she stretched out to an elderly lady. The woman seemed to be amused by the whole thing so I did the plunge hoping DD would change her mind as soon as I am about to give her to the other lady. I have to say she looked well pleased when she took DD to show her friend saying "look what I've got here!". Fun starts when DD walks up a teenage kid about 12-13 years old, the look on their faces! Grin

Far too quiet on here for my liking!
DS is at home today with DH while I'm at work. 2 horrendous poos apparently and he's off his food. I think it's his 2nd molars coming through. Gah!!!! Just when we thought we'd cracked this sleep thing (which I'd kept to myself for fear of jinxing it)

MrsA Your situation sounds like us for the last few weeks. DD juuuuust started eating again. I actually brought sophie the giraffe out but she has found the little plastic sausages from her play kitchen are very effective :)

So far sleep hasn't been disturbed until last night when she spent an hour or so chatting to herself at 3am and then crying in her sleep a few other times. We didn't have to go in at any point but I was awake a lot.

Report
Annarose2014 · 03/06/2016 15:13

I pray all our molars are through now. Actually it wasn't as bad as people had made out, just a few nasty nappies and interrupted nights. Par for the course with a child who's not a great sleeper.

Speaking of which.....we are at relatives for the weekend. First time away in ages and the travel cot in situ here has suddenly become too small which was an unpleasant suprise!

We inherited a big convertable cot bed at home which he's been in since 7 months so we had completely forgotten the dimensions of travel cots.

Anyway putting him to bed took ages as he realised that he barely had to move to make interesting noises on the nylon net sides. Cue: A Symphony of Nylon for about half an hour.

Then after he was asleep unfortunately every time he moved he banged against the sides and woke himself up so we had to resettle him a lot. Up for good at 5.30.

So MIL has a set of cot sides left over from some random grandchild under her bed. I think tonight we're going to chance him in a single bed against wall + cot sides. More room for him to flail about.

Quite nervous about it! It could be a disaster! Will report back.

Hope it goes well Anna! We have ds on a mattress on the floor as he was banging about in his cot so much. It's working pretty well, and I'm thinking about getting him a bed with a guard. It's lovely to be able to lie down next to him for story time at night. He's obsessed with Goodnight Moon at the moment. It reads and looks like a bad hallucination to me! Putting the cot up for sale this weekend.

We had our first trip to the dentist this morning, he cried, bless him! He's normally so good that I wasn't really expecting it. He sat on my tummy while I was being checked out, and enjoyed that bit much more. Two canines just about to pop on his right side, but no more molars on the way yet.

Wish the blooming sun would come out! Fingers crossed for the weekend.

Well that was an epic fail!

He woke more than before! Up from 3.30 am to 5.10. And when he woke he got all upset as he didn't know where he was, poor little mite. Even though it was in the same room as the night before! I guess he's just used to a cot.

So one more night and not sure yet which option we'll go for but at least he'll be back in the cot bed after that and we won't be going anywhere till next year cos of the birth etc.

Both myself and DH v tired this morning and MIL won't stop chattering. It's too early for gossip about neighbours I don't know! DH is going to a football match with all "the men" this afternoon and I'm going to be stuck with MIL and various SILs and 10,000 small rampaging children. Ugh. At least home tomorrow.

Brilliant that it went well!

ladydolly Hope you have recovered. i'm very jealous - well not of the puking lol. Being pregnant during the summer sucks for many many reasons but not being able to drink cider in the back garden is high up there.

The other day I was moaning to my friend about how DS has suddenly become very toddlerish with food and is having regular meltdowns with food he should be loving (seriously, what kid won't eat plain pizza????) And she said after those days wine is the answer. Before realising who she was talking to!

Since we are home DS has been sleeping through to 6am. And a glorious 6.45 this morning! Its 25/26 degrees in his room apparently though it doesnt feel too bad. We keep the window open and have a sleepsuit with no vest underneath. He still has his duvet but tosses it off pretty quickly and we let him. And he seems to be sleeping well like that.

During the day he's outside constantly and he's constantly FILTHY. Grin

Hi all! Missed you. Been off on holiday in Vancouver and got back on Saturday. It was A MAZING. The flights were OK and jetlag was OK too... sleep was a bit difficult after the flight out there as we were all sharing a room for the first few nights, but on the way back she had a normal night's sleep last night and went off to nursery today with a smile. She loved hanging out with my cousins and their kids and really showed off her sociable side. She learned to say a very cute "Buh-bye!" accompanied by her best royal wave and then blows kisses, which got so much attention! She had her first dip in the sea since last summer and absolutely loved it. Seals are her new favourite animal after seeing them in Victoria and at an aquarium and she walks around the house barking and clapping her hands now! She also has this new thing where she has to go around beeping everyone's nose, and won't stop til she's done them all. Now we're home, the cats have to be beeped too which can take a while... Once everyone is beeped, she starts again with patting everyone's heads.

The best bit of the holiday (although not at the time!) was that our flight out to Canada was cancelled... Basically DD had an awesome few hours playing at the Heathrow kids' play area while we waited, then we were back home in time for bed and finally went the following morning. Reason I say 'best' is that we just found out we're getting 600 Euros compensation each (which is more than we paid for the flights!!). We're going to buy DD a mini micro scooter with the little seat and the rest is going towards our artificial lawn!

Glad we're not the only ones experiencing the new scratching, biting, hitting phase. At nursery they say "kind hands" when they do that although I tend to grab her wrists and say NO at her quite loudly. She still just laughs at me though...
Shoe wise we are wearing canvas Clarks doodles and some trainers from See Kai Run which I found on ebay for half price. However the sizing on those seems small so I think we'll have to replace them pretty soon. We got her some nifty cheap water shoes in Canada which have already had a lot of use as they're so quick to put on. I nearly bought her some saltwater sandals in Canada as they were only £20 there ... wanted a red pair to go with an adorable dress we bought her for a wedding, but they didn't have them in stock. I'm also a bit wary about sandals with no toe cover. She constantly has grazed knees at the moment so don't want to risk stubbed toes too.

On holiday I didn't go on MN at all and am trying to keep that up (excluding this thread obviously!). It's such a time waster and I'm increasingly conscious of how much I'm looking at my phone when with DD. We used it a fair bit on holiday for entertainment (watching youtube vids) and now when she sees me with my phone she starts doing the wheels on the bus actions! So being on my phone is another thing I can't do in her presence along with eat anything yummy, drink anything apart from water, etc etc. Yawn!!
