Its DH's birthday today - J has celebrated by not really sleeping last night - or so far today. Am hoping he'll sleep better tonight (and not wake up after 2 hours as with the last two nights) as meant to be taking DH out to dinner (only at local restaurant) tonight for his birthday.

Hello shiny new thread!
I've completely forgotten what I was going to write now and I can't just scroll back up.....
I hope J's sleep improves, dinky, and you get to enjoy your evening out with DH.
Sorry about your grandmother, Abzs. I hope your dad is ok. It must be hard to lose a parent at any age. I bet she was delighted to be a great-grandmother.

Marking my place.

Sorry to hear your news, Absz. I bet your grandmother will have been delighted to have met your new arrival, and I hope she is at peace now.

Dinky, life sounds pretty tough for you. This boy is definitely not giving you and easy ride, is he? Fingers crossed you get the chance to enjoy tonight.

I am flying solo this week as DH is working away. Lots to do. Started by cleaning the windows outside, which now means I can see how filthy the inside is and clean them too... I'm beginning to wish I hadn't started!

Finally, keeeeeeeeeeeep CLENCHING!

I'm impressed by your cleaning clenching. Must make the effort tomorrow as have the HV round later this week. They said they want to see F but I think I'm being checked up onSmile

abzs sorry about your grandmother but it's lovely that she got to meet J

Trying to work out how many weeks M is now to see if dreaded sleep regression has passed or still to come. She's been sl better last 2 nights (only up twice instead of 4+)
time is flying...

16weeks today, but she was very overdue so maybe the worst has passed- tempting fate or what!!

dinky is J any less pukey? Hope Diwali celebrations were good

We had some fireworks with neighbours at weekend- boys were all scared and M cried, but apart from that was fun!!

Taking the boys to fireworks tomorrow night - will be interesting to see what J makes of them Thinking! Yes, he's so much less pukey now - in fact no puke (touch wood) for a couple of days (being dairy free definitely helps there) but still has a snotty cold which might be making him abit clingy.

Impressive cleaning Clenching! I tend to try to ignore my windows for as long as possible...

Nice to see you on Shelley - hope all better with you and life as a family of 5 going well.

Hello all! Marking my place and having a little worry. Hoping for some wisdom please. Had L weighed and she has dropped from 98th centile at birth, settled on 75th since 4 weeks and has now slipped again to 50th. HV says she needs to see her again in a fortnight and then she will need investigating if no improvement is made. I've taken the matter into my own hands and made a GP appointment. As you know I like my GP and hope she will shed some light. You may also all remember I had to wean DS incredibly early and was hoping to be a little more "normal" in my timing with L! (Please don't give me the weaning lecture anyone, I know the rules but had no choice with DS!)

Does anyone know any reasons why this might be happening? I know that these average graphs have their flaws etc. She eats well. I actually don't think I could get much more milk in her; so much so I have been gradually introducing HB formula.

Sorry for the long self absorbed post!

Don't know what to suggestMrsd but just wanted to acknowledge your post. I've got to opposite problem with weaning, I've been trying hold off as T was early but have lots of family telling me I should be introducing solids...so he sleeps at night! Everyone has an opinion don't they! Hope your gp provides reassurance x

Hmm, maybe its a J thing Silver... Hope your J starts sleeping better soon. Cheek - I know I went through this with DS1 and DS2 (our second postnatal thread when I had DS2 was entitled Attack of the Zombie mums!) and lived to tell the tale - just! - and even went on to have another mini insomniac baby...

MrsD - what is your build like and your DH's? If one of you is average or slight, it may be that L's metabolism is like that - FWIW my older boys started off on 75th percentile for weight and sat on it then suddenly dropped down to 50th (staying on 91st for height) at around 6 months - they take after my DH who is tall and lean (damn him) while I'm short and stout (rather like a tea pot.... guess who has been singing nursery rhymes to J of late Blush). There's a reason why there are these percentiles as there is a huge variety among human body shapes and metabolisms - please dont let it worry you too much, especially as L is eating well and happy and thriving.

Thanks Dinky. Both DH and I are of average height. DH has a bit of a beer belly but is quite a broad fella. I'm "big boned" and currently on the chunky side! Thanks for your reassurance. I think it's shocked me a bit that I might not have spotted her slowing down in terms of her growth. I also didn't like the idea of being told to wean, and not being ready for it. I spoke to DS hv today. She's normally really good but just said, "maybe this one needs good early too". Not what I was after really! Will see what GP says.

Having a bit of a bizarre moment. I am worrying about school places! The city council are rezoning the catchments for the local schools. It looks like we will be rezoned to one over a mile closer (good) which is currently only two thirds the size it will need to be for housing across the road from us (bad, but maybe good if a new building). The dark cloud on the horizon is that the primary schools in this part of the city are set to be the most overcrowded and one is still likely to be closed. It's a strange feeling, but in reality Shock it's not long at all until I have to find J an ante-preschool (yes, they genuinely call it that) place.

Abzs I am still in denial about finding a nursery for me going back to work, total head in the sand about school! But it seems like lots of these bubba's are going to have issues with school places!
T has been soooo grumpy today, no idea what the problem has been but have given him some paracetamol in case it's pain and he's in bed I have a small glass of wine in my hand!

Report
ClenchingPanda · 05/11/2013 21:46

MrsD do not worry - if your DD is well and happy, it may just be that she's settling onto her own growth line, as Dinky. F started off on the 91st, and has fallen since then. He's still above the 50th, and I think it might just have been all the third trimester cake eating that he's just taking time to go from what his birthweight was to what he's genetically destined for. Neither DH nor I are particularly tall/large people so would be surprised to have produced a rugby forward. HVs aren't worried as he feeds splendidly and is still gaining. Hope your GP can help put your mind at rest.

Beginning I have had a grumpy baby too. I think he's teething, because there's a lot of drooling, crying and just wanting to be held all the time. Not good as I have been attempting to continue my cleaning marathon. I made the mistake of looking behind the sofa and it had to be done... we have lived here for 4 years and it is possibly the first time I've done it Blush. Currently relaxing with a well earned glass of wine and not sure I'll make it past 10pm!

We are in denial re return to work childcare (I know, I know) let alone school places (or the marvellously named ante-pre school) returns head to sand.

Abzs - a lot can change in 3 or 4 years. With new houses coming up in your area a new school may well open - or a new ante-preschool (great name!) X

Ah, found you all! Silly me forgot my mn password.

Happy 'finding out you're pregnant' anniversary Dinky Smile good to hear J is celebrating in style Wink I must have found out around this time too, I have to dig out my old diary.

Yes, school/nursery/childminders are a worry aren't they? If you know of a good nursery then I would definitely put your name down sooner rather than later as the good ones are always in high demand.

L learnt a new game last night - getting wedged sideways in his cot! Silly boy. I think he is trying to roll over, but is getting in a right pickle with his grobag.

Last baby massage session today, I'll have to find another group to go to as he really likes socialising with the other babies

New tricks here too Sunday. After despising tummy time with a passion, J cracked lifting his head last night (when he should have been sleepy not up and playing with DH). He was getting quite frustrated that he couldn't quite reach the toy in front of him this morning - pushing with his legs but getting his arms stuck under himself - but better find a fire guard and stair gates asap.

Rolling wise, he can just about get on to his right side, but he flops back again.

I'm glad I don't have to worry about a nursery place. Some here have lists starting before the babies are born. Not sure what I'll do for occasional childcare if (hopefully when) I go back to WAH, don't think I can turn up to survey a castle with him in a sling.

clenching do sofas move?!?! When T starts crawling I'm putting dusters on him to keep my wooden floors clean!
I checked my diary yesterday and I did my pregnancy test on the 4th, crazy to think that my big fat 20lbs bubba was just a teeny tiny embryo 12 months ago!
Happier baby today but has a very gruff voice so not sure if he has a sore throat or if its just from all the screaming yesterday! Definitely has teeth coming though.

Had L weighed today, he's slipped down a centile. I'm really surprised because he's been feeding every 2hours 24/7 for three weeks. I thought he was having a growth spurt. Where is he putting it??!

Anyway, have to go back in two weeks to see how he's doing.

Looking forward to meeting the London contingent on the 28th Smile
