Jan 2013: Part Six. Part SIX!(1000 Posts)
As I so frivolously finished the last thread, I thought I'd better start a new one. Go!
fourlegs... sleep advisor, do you think itd be ok if on days where we need to be places at 2 I let him do an early nap else we'd never get out.
I was going to sing the praises of foot vicks but I think I just heard a cough.
on the word front we have mama dada oooooh oo oo and gone he also copies awww and is trying to copy dog barks but just says a a
We were near Stirling. Small world Bunty and Meringues!!

Originally from just outside Livingston, meringue - a wee village that no one actually knows where it is!
four DD has a few words - mama (v occasionally and usually used in blackmailing me), daddy and dada, ta, that, papa, and quack.
She made me v proud at the weekend. Pointed at other folks cakes in John Lewis and said, "THAT! TA!"
That's my girl!
Bunty, My parents used to live in the central belt and I lived there from 10-18 until I came back north for uni and stayed!
Bailey says "mummum", "dadada", "yeah" and "no". Get lots of babbling and conversations with himself as well as pointing at stuff going "ooh". He's def been focussing on that and using his hands to analyse and explore stuff rather than moving.
Apparently he was very frustrated at nursery today with not being able to crawl forwards and wanted to be sitting where he could see everything.
Glorious, that sounds like mental teething. B was like that at one point and I hadn't realised that was what was going on. I used to dose him up on everything (and still do if it's bad). He got ibuprofen (because it lasted longer), teething granules and anbesol rubbed on his gums. Usually within 10-15 mins he was asleep again. If he woke after two hours, he got more granules. After three hours, it was more anbesol and granules.
Creepy, sorry you've had a tough time. Def get out as soon as you can! You'll be able to actually talk to each other. My mil begs us to babysit as she thinks it's so important to get out as new parents together when you can. Hasn't happened as much since I've been back at work but we know she'll babysit at a moments notice if she's free.
Or was it 'hoorah for tits'?!
cupcakes it's sitting with your bum touching the floor but your calves out on either side of you tucked back, hence the w! Assuming you're walking then there's no need to worry!
Ooh nearly new thread time - weren't we going to have 'thank goodness for tits' as the title for the next one?! Or something. Whoever it was whi said that needs to do the honours!
Glorious it'll be the teeth. We've had similar nonsense here, sometimes waking every hour and wanting to just sleep with boob in mouth or else screaming. I've given up on meds as not convinced it makes a blind bit of difference. Sympathies .
Happy sorry to hear your news . Glad you are hanging on in there.
Happy birthday to Molly, Nancy, Bailey, Felix and anyone else I've missed! And congratulations to all the new walkers
I can't keep up with the thread now I'm back at work! of the meetups. Bunty where are you from originally then??
Is W sitting bad then? I always sit like that! <panics>
I have just baked DS' birthday cake, ready for icing tomorrow. It's a bit wonky, but nothing a nice thick wadge of icing won't fix!
Nothing to worry about then by the sounds of things creepy!
fourlegs X only has one word but she does babble a lot. Maybe he's focussing on physical stuff at the mo?
I used to sit in a W shape till I was about 10! Now I'm about as flexible as am Armco crash barrier.
Question: Is anyone's LO saying words yet? I've got nothing. He was a making some ""da" sounds a few weeks back but has stopped. All he does is sort of do grunty "oooh" noises.
Thank you birdies. It's not every time she sits, and she sits cross legged a lot of the time too so will try to encourage that instead. She stands fine, cruises fine and walks if she's pushing something. I googled hypermobility and I can do the most of the stuff in the images..
Gonna book tomorrow lolli! My reward for first day back at work ;)
Hope everyone's had a good day. Is there a birthday today?
creepy - my DD1 is hypermobile and can't walk yet (she's nearly 3). We've been told not to let her sit in a w shape although it's not easy to keep moving her legs. Anyway, I think your mum is right to try to get her to sit cross legged if you can. Doesn't mean anything bad that she does, but maybe not a habit to get in to as it may over stretch her ligaments?? I think! Is she standing yet?
Glad the birthday babies have had a good day.
I think that sounds like a great idea creepy! You should get somewhere booked tonight so then you will definatly go.
I'm not sure what 'w sit' is?
Yep DH and me have a hit a bit of a rough patch again. I think we're gonna get mil to babysit one night next week so we can go out for a meal. We haven't had any time just the two of us in over a year.
What a pain about jabs lolli. They're ridiculous sometimes aren't they?!
Nancy wasn't fussed on her cake either. More for me!
I think we're down to 2 feeds a day now (and one in the middle of the night) and I'm loving the freedom. She doesn't like cows milk though which is a pain.
Does anyone else's 'w sit'? Nancy almost always does and my mum said I should get her to stop. Conflicting a advice online though
Injections didn't happen, none of them! DD can't have hers until 13 months, DS can't have his until 3.3 and I can't have mine as blood pressure too high, I'm not fecking surprised!
I did ask then why I had received a letter for both DD and ds1 to make an appt for their injections but she said it must have been sent out early in error!
Creepy good luck for work tomorrow, do you mean all is not well with you and DH?
Scan is first thing on Weds so not long to wait. Feeling fine about it all again but think that'll be a different story at the end of the week when it hits me again.
Glad Felix had a great birthday. Celery over cake? Interesting child. Mind you, I got slightly offended by Bailey spitting out his bday cake that I'd lovingly made! He ate it the next day though.
Thanks for all the birthday messages! Felix had a great day, however he eschewed birthday cake in favour of a stick of celery. Errrr.....
Lora you definitely need to bring afternoon nap earlier and try cutting the morning one out altogether. Agree lunchtime nap needs to be over by 3.
My sister, SIL and another friend are all 6 months pg now. All they talk about is being pregnant etc. I remember those days! Ha.
Thanks everyone. I'm trying to pretend it's jet lag She's grumpy too of course.
It could be teeth, she's cutting two. We got some ibuprofen in though and it didn't seem to help. She's gone from none to six in a month so why this set would be worse I don't know.
The problem with medicine is we have to pin her down as she hates it so it takes both of us and she gets hysterical so it's hard to summon the strength more than once a night...
creepy good luck for work. What's not going well?
Happy birthday Felix!
Sorry to hear your news happy.
How rubbish glorious. Nancy wouldn't settle last night either and was up a couple of times, started the day at 6 too. She's a bucket of snot this morning though so I think that could be it.
Very of the meet ups. I don't think I'm near anyone either.
I'm back to work tomorrow. Dreading it. But looking forward to DH having nancy for the day. We're not doing too well at the moment
glorious many sympathies for the non sleeping child been there, occasionally still there, and it is shit. I look back at some of my posts on here when c was at her worst, and I just sound so down.
Sleep deprivation literally is torture. I so, so hope it turns around for you soon. and
Fingers crossed for you Happy
Glorious no chance its just extra nasty teething is it? Daniel has been dosed every night this week with ibuprofen and its made the difference between sleeping and not for us.
Just had our booster at 9am Lolli Mass wailing and tears from Daniel but we are home now and he has a chocolate teddy to make it all better. Hope yours goes just as well.
Jeez glorious, you must be shattered
I can't think of what it could be other than teeth, or habit of just waking up?
Ds1 goes through phases of waking in the night, normally after he has been poorly but will wake at around the same time nightly for weeks then something will just click and he will go back to sleeping through
until the next episode it's currently 2am and 4am
Oh happy that sounds really difficult. I'm hoping with you
She settled at about 1130 then woke 2-4, 445-530, 615 for the day Something isn't right but no idea what.
Happy, when's your scan?
Glorious hope she settled for you?
We're off for injections this morning, DD, DS1 and me ....... Should be interesting
