And thanks for the reminder I had completely forgotten to stock up the chocolate treats for the trick or treaters, which, here, is groups of local kids supervised by hi viz adults who just hold out buckets for treats.

We wont do anything. DH works on Thursday, I probably just wont answer the door as I object to a gang of 5 scruffy teens with one crap mask between them putting their hands out for chocolate, which is all it was trick or treating last year.

One year though, DH and I were going to a party and were in full costume (DH as a bloody butcher, with knife through head, lots of fake blood etc, me as witch but not a crap "sexy" witch, a proper Wizard of Oz baddy with green body paint, rice crispy warts, long green nose etc) and opened the door to small trick or treaters. They cried. It wasnt good.

When I was little (ages 2-5) we lived in New England, USA. DPs recall bin liners of goodies, just from the road we lived on!

Re boob hat, what is she suggesting? What does she want you to do pp? If she has paid for it after having seen it then nothing else for it really. Ask her maybe if she would like another one but only if you feel the need. Ordering items from people who craft means that sometimes you will get things which differ to how you imagined. I bought a few fun brooches a few years ago and a few days before my wedding I had the sudden urge to ask her to make three in the shape of ladybirds for me and my bridesmaids. She was very excited and sent them dead quick. The problem was that her idea of the lady bird and mine was different. They looked like tortoises.

Yeah not worried about the girls. Otoh LO has an exema patch on her leg which has kind of opened up. She has paed appointment on Tuesday anyway and it's not bothering her. Can I leave it til then?

It's my birthday (well the day before) so we will do something I guess. O has an orange witch top and witch hat and I'm going to put some ballerina skirts on her.

I am reading by the way but as we are staying with friends I find I have no time at all responding. O is still doing well, we are sadly leaving my best friend tomorrow and moving to my brother to catch up with him too. Shopping planned for the weekend as well as watching xfactor, downton abbey and homeland.

It is nice to be here but I am longing for our place.

DD1's temp hovering around 37° so not worrying. LO vommed before she fell, and have recently changed her milk and she gobs it down far too fast, so not worried about that either.

Cooking steak, chips and ratatouille right now. Yum. Tomorrow have decided to go for the stuffed chicken breasts, mozzarella and pesto wrapped in bacon with a couple of salads. Can't be faffed with the poached eggs in wine thingy when will be knackered after a day with the girls, especially if they are ill. I have the ingredients though so will definitely do it during the week for me and DH. Yum.

Thanks for the hat p, I love it, however it's pink? I think I was expecting a neutral/beige/cream boob perhaps? Should have said something at hand over but was a bit over whelmed with the situation I guess. If LO was a girl think it would be great, but doesn't feel right dressing him in a pink hat?!

PP is it just me who thinks 'it doesn't seem right dressing him in pink' yet I will dress him as a giant boob a bit ironic??! I would say that it was sold as seen.

pp This is all a bit weird. She doesn't mind dressing him in a boob hat but heaven forebid it happens to have a pink tinge! It was, however quite a nice message. Can you sell on this hat to someone else? If so I'd say if she provides her own wool you will redo it in the name of good will if that's feasible for you. If not, I'd say sorry you had plenty of oppotunity to voice your concerns at the point of the photo and handover but you led me to believe all was satisfactory. And let that be an end to it. In fact I'd be more inclined to go for option 2!

pr Have a busy day lined up tomorrow so in case I don't get a chance to post.....big big happy birthday wishes to your lovely LO. Hope she is fit and well for her big day.

At baby sensory yesterday there was a little boy whose first birthday was that day so we all sang happy birthday. I got really emotional! God knows why. But I'm starting to regret not being with E for her first birthday. I think I might be a bit of a wreck on the day and drown my sorrows. I keep saying to myself she won't know and I'll make it up to her in future years. But I still feel like a shit mum about it.

I've texted DH to ask him to pick up fish and chips on the way home. I need to get some inspiration from all you good cooks. I do quite like cooking sometimes but at the moment I don't find it very pleasureable. Mainly as whilst I'm trying to cook I have DD1 winding up E and then E clinging to my leg crying. Now the weather is turning I will use my slow cooker more and get dinner on the go whilst DD1 is at nursery and E is napping. Although I don't count bunging stuff in the slow cooker as proper cooking.

I'm off to a baby shower tomorrow. Never been to one before. Hope it doesn't make me broody!

apple unless you are in real pain or bleeding heavily (more than a pad per couple of hours) I wouldn't try and face a&e until tomorrow morning or at least until dh is with you; will dh be there tomorrow for you? try and sleep tonight. It's horrible and I have been there both through unwarranted scares and the worst case scenario.

Apple don't assume the worst my sister had a v big bleed with my niece at 7 weeks and again at 11. OK she surprised us all by turning up 3 months early but she's here and thriving so please try to stay calm love xx

Just found out DH's work trip to the Falkland's gets him back (after 7 flights!!!) on the 23rd December so we're not going to be able to go south to his family for Christmas. Which means we'll have it up here with mine.

The bear's second tooth has finally cut. Let's hope that and his baby walker leap this am might afford us some sleep.

YW she is called Mikaela. My mum's car is called Mike and their number plates both end MKE. I reckon you could easily fit two baby seats in the back, they're much bigger than they look on the outside! The real test will be our roadtrip over to the West Coast on Sunday with dog/baby/dive kit! dive kit probably going in someone else's car

Glad you can make use of the bun recipe. Mind, there is 3oz of butter in them. Did I miss that off the original recipe? Oops. Butter is boiled and melted in the pan with fruit, water, sugar and spices.

MM we went wild camping over in Applecross when we had one as a hire car - more space than you'd think - must be a wriggle getting M into the car seat in the back though! No worries about butter easy to substitute with dairy free spread .

We ate in a place in Stirling that had the most amazing butter substitute. I wanted to give some veg to p so I asked what was on the veg (smelled, tasted and looked like butter) and the guy was all chuffed saying they didn't use dairy and had an amazing substitute. I learned since that the whole family suffer from allergies. I must pop in an ask them because it was amazing stuff

It was the only 'small car' that DP physically fitted in. I actually find putting her in her seat much easier than in the Megane. I am lifting her straight in whereas the door opening on the other car was awkward and I always ended up either hitting her head getting her in or twisting my back. Anyway, I love it!
