I'm 5'7 and DH is 6'1 - MM is your DP really 6'3 - he seems Ads' height? hmm it's a bloke thing isn't it to add a few inches grin wink blush My Mum was 6ft and my Dad is 5'6 - she blamed the 1970s as he wore platforms and she was a barefoot hippy when they got together.... DH's Mum is only 5 foot so Jonas could be any height!

The Returned finale was smile smile smile smile smile think I might buy the Mogwai soundtrack.

Evil we have that car seat - it's ace - J will be in it until at least the New Year I'd guess so am going to hold on for the sales. As for Christmas I wondered about a smart trike but my sisters' two never used theirs and it'd be a bit of a white elephant if we get a bad winter. I'm erring towards a box and some tinfoil too. He has so many hand me downs and will be spoilt by the in laws. I've got him some awesome fox felt slippers which I fell in love with. Clothes and books will be what I'm hoping for. and DH is a smart enough cookie to know that I'd best get an end of BF spa trip smile

All this car seat talk is confusing. l am using a maammas and pappas one which was recommended ? by Which about 8 yrs ago (haas been through ds1 and dd) so hoping that‘s ok.

Present wise l was thinking about the fisherprice cookie jar shape sorter but never actually tried one. Also remember dd loved peekaboo blocks but haven‘t noticed them around recently. l have ds1‘s birthday to consider first. 8 turning 9 year olds are a lot harder to buy for than babies!

Just submitted 2 job applications . Not sure l actually want them as are full time, but my ohd funding ends soon. Feel v wobbly about the idea of a “normal“ job after 7ish years working from home.

Pass I had that experience with neighbours back in Oxford only ours were real snobs when you chatted to them but my god NOT when they were screaming like fishwives / navvies. Everyone on the street must have heard them - or seen one or the other leaving, for good, a million times in the middle of the night with much 'drama'. Only it wasn't dramatic as it got v predictable (anytime one had gone out without pals, the days before payday - we guessed they had money woes, high days and holidays). I would have been livid having them as neighbours now I've got a baby to wake. But at the time we used to play argument bingo as we'd wait for the same old lines to come up. It livened up a bottle of wine grin and at the time me and my two housemates were single so it was a nice reminder as to why we were happy with that!

YellowWellies Sun 28-Jul-13 22:39:21

MM we lived in a terrace - no one will have heard you on your street - haven't you got a garage between you and next door?

Passmethecrisps Sun 28-Jul-13 22:42:07

HA! First line of that I thought you meant you swam in chocolate is Oxford! I was thinking "wow. She would never have had that in stirling!"

I hate, hate shouting. I heard a few bits but can't piece together what is up. Thu have always been a bit dramatic but this is beyond normal. Maybe I won't be needing a new frock for a wedding after all sad

Passmethecrisps Sun 28-Jul-13 22:42:47

Oh! And please noone think I am there with a glass at the wall. It is hard to avoid!

Passmethecrisps Sun 28-Jul-13 22:43:11

Good luck with the job apps daisy!

We have the kiddy guardian pro for DD1. I agonised so much when it came to choosing what car seat for her. They all have their pros and cons. DD1 has never escaped from it, whereas I have a friend whose DD reguarly escapes from her mazi cosi tobi. However, my DD is not an escape artist and in fact if I go to drive off without having strapped her in (only done a few times after doing things out of the wrong order I hasten to add) she screams so she knows she needs to be strapped in and happily puts the bumper there herself. I can see if you have a thin wriggly child that doesnt like the bumper (as in your O detective) then they could quite easily get out of it. It's a tough decision and I'm glad I don't have to decide again. E will go into either the kiddy energy or kiddy guardian purely as they have worked for us. Don't beat yourself into a frenzy about it. It's amazing to think that not that long a go babies didn't even need to be in car seats at all. Imagine that!

E is now 66.5cms in length. She still grows length ways but not putting on weight. Perhaps she will be a skinny mini unlike her parents.

Had newborn cuddles with my niece this evening. She is an absolute poppet not biased at all. I really thought it would make me broody and as lovely as it was I had no desire to steal her. Perhaps knowing I can go round for cuddles whenever I like helps. It is nice to have a baby I can give back.

VQ there's a trick you can do where you take the L from a Felicia badge and replace the F in the Fabia badge!

Kyzordz Sun 28-Jul-13 22:54:20

I haven't anything for E yet and no idea what to get him either sad I was going to get him a vtech walker but think he should probably have that now rather than when he's 1. I don't know. I love wooden toys, and books. I might get him a ball pit thingy. Sounds like some of you have some awesome birthday things planned out smile

If E continues his growth he will be a big fella lol! Dp is 6 foot 4 and about 18st but not fat, just BIG. I am 5 foot 2 and fatter than i would like. I have ok sized legs i guess, length wise, but i'm what is usually known as 'stubby'. sad

hey dixie!

pass i now have an image of you going SHHHHH at p and your dh whilst practically pressing a glass through the wall. I am sure you would never do such a thing - sometimes you can't help overhearing things, especially arguments and suchlike!

Bed time for me, will have birthday ideas going round and around in my head!

ValiumQueen Sun 28-Jul-13 22:55:59

Daisy not caught up, but car seats usually have a life of 6 years. They have an expiry date on them. If not, check with the manufacturer. All to do with plastic perishing in the changing temps of a car.

YellowWellies Sun 28-Jul-13 22:57:48

Haha Pass we were in a thin walled terrace not that my housemate Karen would go out in the garden to have a listen and report back, on noooooo

MissMummy1 Sun 28-Jul-13 22:59:49

Yes I am sceptical about his height too. hmm

Our house is detached. I know they heard as she whispered to me over the wall the following morning 'is everything okay?' Apparently she heard a loud bang from our house - I didnt have the balls to tell her it was me slamming a door blush blush blush blush

fruitpastilles Sun 28-Jul-13 23:02:55

I'm the same, no idea what to get S, I kinda don't like that her birthday is so close to Christmas, It makes it harder I think.
I think S will be tall like dp, I hope so anyway, I'm 5.2 and have always wished I was taller. Dp is 6.3 and S is very long.

MissMummy1 Sun 28-Jul-13 23:03:25

Also, I had a nit of an hmmconfused moment tonight. I invited an old uni pal to M's naming ceremony/BBQ thing. At the time she was really enthusiastic and accepted. This evening she phoned us upqnd said she now had to dog sit and couldn't make it (wtf?). Anyway, have just seen she has posted on a mutual friend's fb wall she is free to go out for a drink with them in Aberdeen that night. sad

Read previous posts, MM1 is an oversensitive twat..

daisychain76 Sun 28-Jul-13 23:03:53

Thanks vq, hadn‘t realised that. Will have to check.

Eliza v jealous of newborn cuddles.

Thanks pass

Hello.
Bday gift talk! How exciting. Haven't read back far yet.
I got lo a music instrument set. Includes tambourine, xylophone. And some counting books. And wooden jigsaw all for Xmas. But recently thought bday is first! So will give those at bday instead. Not going to give lots of gifts as I know he will get lots.

Car seat we need to get ASAP. Lo is out growing his. Keep on at dh. He is dragging his heels. I am determined he will do it tho.
