Hello! Hope your boys are better, Kitty.

We're into the summer hols now (yay!) and therefore today is Day 1 of Potty Training. Actual serious attempt this time. And I feel the need to tell the world about our achievements, but keeping myself away from fb as I know no one really cares. So, I'm offloading here! (Yep, a potty pun). You can ignore if you wish!

So, we had a few accidents earlier, but he had pants on, and I think they might have confused him. So he's been bottomless since this morning, and although I've been reminding him, he's been very resistant to direction (I've mentioned before that he's stubborn, right?!) and has taken himself to the potty 3 times since the initial accidents.

The current plan is to have a couple of pants free days at home, then a couple of pants on days at home, and if all is going well we'll venture out and about at the end of the week. We've got a pottette thing, but no car seat cover.

UnderwaterBasketWeaving Mon 29-Jul-13 12:36:52

Oh, the accidents happened while our childless friends were here! Hilarious!

UnderwaterBasketWeaving Mon 29-Jul-13 13:17:19

2 more accidents and 1 more in the potty. One of the accidents, he weed on DHs flip flop! I thought it was funny, DH is starting to find it stressful already.

I am very glad we had the hard floor done well before this time!

UnderwaterBasketWeaving Tue 30-Jul-13 18:25:13

No accidents today! And he's not responded to any reminders, he won't engage in having 'a try' or anything. But he's taken himself off to the potty for every wee & poo today! So I suppose this means its definitely on, he's ready, we're not opportunistically catching products after all.

So tomorrows plan is to introduce pants. He's been semi naked the past two days. And then we'll move the potty into the bathroom so he has to actually go to the loo, and gets the idea of holding it until he's got somewhere else. And then we'll attempt to leave the house!

TwentiethCenturyGirl Tue 30-Jul-13 18:57:58

Sounds like it's going well UBW. Fingers crossed for tomorrow too. smile

UnderwaterBasketWeaving Tue 30-Jul-13 20:27:19

Thanks! This is rapidly becoming The Inside of UBW's Mind Thread grin

DH has just reminded me he's working tomorrow. So just me for pants and puddles then. We'll do something lovely and messy that would freak DH out!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt Wed 31-Jul-13 09:56:05

Wow, it sounds like he's ready UBW.

You are inspiring me and ds3 has been asking to use the potty. But by the time we get him on it he's either gone in his nappy or he's just asking to sit on it because of the novelty value! Maybe I just need to woman up and give it a go. It would be nice if he's out of nappies when he starts pre school <puts carpet shampoo on the shopping list>

UnderwaterBasketWeaving Wed 31-Jul-13 11:05:23

F never asked to use the potty when he had a nappy on. He'd sit on it occasionally (they've been hanging round the house about a year). It's only when he's been running around with no bottoms on odd days over the last few weeks that he's started to get the hang of it. We got new sofas a few weeks ago, and until the last few days we've had a "no nappy, no sofa" rule.

Yesterday, with no bottoms on at all, was the first day he's been accident free and taken himself to the potty every time with no reminders (he's too stubborn for reminders anyway).

Today, after some convincing, I've got him in pants. So far he's had a couple of potty Wees, but only when he'd already taken his pants off for a shower.

We've also put pants on a teddy bear. Poor teddy keeps having a rush to get to the potty!

UnderwaterBasketWeaving Wed 31-Jul-13 11:06:15

Oh, and I just really want to do it this summer while I've got a big block of time off. Otherwise between home, cm and nursery during the rest of the year it might get a bit confusing.

TwentiethCenturyGirl Wed 31-Jul-13 13:39:28

We sat teddy on a pan rather than the potty! Sounds strange but worked for us!

To be honest, I was surprised how quickly DD potty trained. My theory is that being at nursery and seeing others going to loo really helped. I guess that if they're ready, they're ready and if they're not, they're not.

Our latest dilemma is the night nappy. Provided she goes for a wee before bedtime then her nappy is pretty reliably dry in the morning. I can't face the masses of washing that risking it without one will incur. Am I being lazy to keep her in a night nappy for a bit longer?

UnderwaterBasketWeaving Wed 31-Jul-13 17:39:13

Not lazy, sensible! I'm not expecting to get night dryness for years if there's truth in the genetic link.

Kittycatcat Thu 01-Aug-13 15:08:32

How's it going ubw? We are starting week after next.

I've bought a vintage bike, and I'm going to get a trailer to put the boys in. Am I supposed to take it on the road? Ill prob only take the boys to the park the long way in it.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt Thu 01-Aug-13 16:20:38

I hear you UBW. ds2 is 5 next month and shows no signs of being dry at night. I was quite old too.

I've done some nappy free time with ds3. No success yet, but he has taken himself out of the room to pee on the carpet hmm so I think he understands the sensation of needing a wee, he just needs to learn to go in the potty rather than on the carpet.

Saying that, he has produced something while on the potty. Wind. He thinks farting on it is hilarious.i think he likes the amplified noise grin

The bribery of ice cream and Angry Birds pants doesn't seem to be cutting the mustard either. Ds2 asked if he could have ice cream if he wee'd on the potty. He was deadly serious!

I love those trailers Kitty. make sure you put a picture on FB of your bike smile

UnderwaterBasketWeaving Thu 01-Aug-13 16:30:54

grin at resonant farting!

Well, we went to the little local park yesterday, where he had an accident. And then he weed on the new sofa yesterday evening.

This morning he had a massive tantrum when I dared remind him that it'd been 2 hours and he should try sitting on the potty. He eventually produced a puddle right next to the potty. hmm

He doesn't take well to reminders/instructions it seems. And is doing a good line in sitting for 5 seconds before giving up and having an accident 5 minutes later.

The last wee I resorted to providing the iPad to keep him seated for a couple of minutes. Don't want to keep doing that!

Need to remind again now actually...

Given the fact that B is still surprised if he wees without a nappy on, I don't think we are ready to start yet.

I AM ON HOLIDAY <happy dance> not back until 20th! That's like ages away!!

Kittycatcat Thu 01-Aug-13 18:46:56

Happy hols fizz

Can ad's stop working after a while? Today hasn't been good. I'm back to shouty horrible mummy again

GreenFirefly Thu 01-Aug-13 18:50:23

My lack of posting doesn't mean I've had the baby yet, just been busy cooking things to fill the new freezer with and such like.
Am 37 weeks tomorrow shock Had a bad consultant appointment last week, which I think I posted about? Anyway realised the problem us lack if confidence in my body for the birth after 31 hours then c-sec last time. My friend who is a midwife suggested I go through my notes with someone on the labour ward so that's happening tomorrow. The result is I'm now thinking vbac or at least trying as I don't think I'll last to the planned 39 week for the c-sec anyway! Those who have done it how was a vbac?

No potty training happening here, she'll still only sit on it fully clothed.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt Thu 01-Aug-13 19:15:20

Sorry kitty I don't know, but I do know that I've been a fishwife with the boys this afternoon. For me it's the heat, I find it draining.

My VBAC's were a high point for me firefly, I found them very healing after my emerg section with ds1. Ds2 were both born at home in water and they were actually quite easy births. I think going through your notes could help you address your fears, it can also be very emotional too so don't be surprised if you get upset and cry - but that's ok. It's part of accepting and moving on.

Speak to the MW tomorrow and see how you feel. Remember that you don't have to make a decision about your birth there and then. Go home and take your time smile

Wee's in the potty - 0
Poo's on the patio - 1

Daisy17 Thu 01-Aug-13 19:24:35

In haste.....nowhere near potty training here, like Fizz's F, my S is still very surprised when he wees without a nappy on! The heat does NOT agree with me at all, Kitty, and it's been megahot again today, so maybe put it down to that and see how you get on when it's cooler.....hugs.

TwentiethCenturyGirl Thu 01-Aug-13 20:53:43

I don't know either Kitty - I do know that we all have bad days though, so hopefully it's just one of them? Maybe just keep an eye on things and get back to see the nice doctor if you're at all worried smile

I'm very envy of your 20 days of holiday Fizz. Grrrh! I am so not feeling work at the moment, it's a struggle to get out of bed every day at the moment. I want to be a lady of lesiure!

Oh, and I think there's something wrong with me BTW. I've been stalking the Christmas threads blush - it's the 1 August...and it's hot...but I'm excited already. DH is despairing!

UnderwaterBasketWeaving Thu 01-Aug-13 22:49:20

I haven't been on the Xmas threads but I'm all over Xmas on Pinterest! I'm excited!

UnderwaterBasketWeaving Sun 04-Aug-13 20:45:49

Heloooo... <echos> anyone around? Everyone ok?

Has it finally happened? Have we grown out of the thread?

TwentiethCenturyGirl Sun 04-Aug-13 22:11:02

Hello there! I'm still here...just boring - got nothing of any interest to say! Not that normally stops me!

RegainingUnconsciousness Sun 04-Aug-13 22:24:26

Hello! Good-boring, I hope.

(Oh, I've nc'd. Fancied a change)
