Hello all; going to make time to post this thread. How is everyone?

Weaning going well here. Doing dairy free blw and lots going in. LO weeps if other are eating and she's not. Sleeping not so much. Back to back colds are bastards.

Back to work in September probably. Boo. And hugs to those going back soon/already back. I love work but hate leaving babies. It's hard so all round.

I went back to work at the start of February. We don't need my income but for the sake of my MH I need those few hours a week keeping in touch with the outside world. I work on average 10 hours out of the house and maybe 10 hours at home? Some weeks more, some less. I can work with Matilda from home (just) and have so far been able to juggle working away around dp's work and my mum having her one day a week. It works for us and I realise I am very fortunate to have the best of both worlds.

After child care costs had been paid, I am actually bringing home 3x what I would teaching full time in a classroom now! And (to quote DP) I get to fanny about at baby groups the rest of the time!

I was made redundant in quite a nasty fashion last August so I'm not sure how or when I'll go back to work. I had to give my childminder her notice and she has taken on two new kids since so I'll have to find someone to take all three of mine - verrrry expensive and not so easy to find someone who can manage DS1's special needs. It's also really hard to find work in Northern Ireland. Maybe DH will get a huge promotion / my lottery numbers will come up...

Been back since start of February but very lucky as mainly from home (although it means I can never change jobs and live in fear of loosing one of them as so rare to get home working!) Hope it goes smoothly for those who are starting back.

Can you sack pregnant women over there? Here (Lux) it is impossible to make women redundant from day one of pregnancy right up until their return from maternity leave, except in very exceptional circumstances ie the company goes under. I thought that was the norm in the EU now.

I got made redundant one week before I found out I was pregnant. So technically, I was pregnant....

PR this may be incorrect but my understanding is that you can't sack a woman for being oregnant or for any reasons connected to her pregnancy, I.e. no discrimination on the grounds of pregnancy. But it can be possible to legitimately sack a pregnant woman, including genuine redundancy, misconduct etc.

I'm in my third week of being back at work. Next week I ramp it up to full time. It is ok. DS is settled in the same nursery as DD the same 2 days per week, DH at home the other three days.

With redundancy - what Madame said ^^ I got redeployed when 5 months pregnant, but they would have made us all redundant if a few other jobs hadn't been available. 3 of us were pregnant/on ML. So long as they treat you the same as every one else they can get you out.

Ooooh, I was going to post this earlier. But forgot. A woman who I did my training with had a baby at the end of January. She's a single mum, her two girls are older, same as my DS. She posts all the time how fab her little baby sleeps, and breastfeeds. How the fuck she managed to get a non broked baby I dunno. She's fecking lucky! And no idea how she does it on her own... but that's another story.

I felt terribly mean to see her post on FB this morning asking WTF happens to babies at 4 months old, that she doesn't know about. She was up 50 times last night. I informed her of the 4 month sleep regression. And the 6 month one, which IMO was worse!!

I feel mean, but not so mean. She's had 4 months of perfect! Give others a turn .
