Should I be worried about this weight gain?

Hi..just weighed my DS..18weeks and he is 19lbs. Looked at the chart in his little red book and he is leaps and bounds ahead. My other two were slightly above average but not to this extreme.
Normal intake of milk (formula from 13wks..the hungry baby one.. and now just onto baby rice and a little fruit once a day because he was hungry.
What do you think? Should I ask my HV or just go with the flow?

I wouldn't be giving him the baby rice and fruit, those really aren't appropriate for an 18-week-old.

But I wouldn't worry about the weight gain.

Thanks..will back off with the weaning..did wean other two in the dark ages but i suspose the guidelines at 26 weeks now are for researched reasons. Wish all HV thought this way and not confused mothers! Just realised he is probably teething aswell and perhaps i have been thinking this is hunger!

I don't know anything about formula, but I thought changing formulas could be hard on the gut? I'm sure someone with more knowledge of formula will be along.

I would go with the flow. My ds is 11 weeks and 2 weeks ago he was over 16lb. He's not extremely fat, just a big big boy - he's also at the top of those lines in the little red book.

I dont think you could mistake teething for hunger. Ds is also teething and when he doesnt want food he will not take it.

Trust your instincts WW but if you need extra reassurance definitely ask your HV. Smile
