Granny any update? poor little fellow, it must be so awful for them.
american fingers crossed for you and the house. Keep us updated, and if you want to a link to the house
yes I'm really nosy
blizy ahh yes, property porn, it's great isn't it. I do that with interiors too with pinterest etc [obsessed] . Yes I watched the dogging docu. Tbh I'm quite naive and I was quite about it ( ). But they picked such odd characters mainly. All the women seemed to have alot of issues. Oh, and can I ask, this is a genuine question, do doggers actually wear those masks in RL when they go into the woods, or was that just to hide their identities?
Oh, forgot to add, met up with needto aka itsokay yesterday and we had a great day by the seaside (as fb people will have seen )
grannyapple it's flying in now isn't it. My placenta was low at 12 and 20 weeks with Anna but shifted. Hope news is better re Oliver.
blizy Ah property porn, I like Reastie am also guilty
Mr Ws "work route" involves quite a few popular dogging areas (shudder)
ponyo lucky duck with the holiday. I like Lanzorote, we've been a few times. Don't worry A will be fine on the plane. Remember my mantra - as long as your child isn't the noisiest you'll be fine
americanexpat good luck with the house x
A documentary on dogging?! I love documentaries but am very comfortable at my current level of knowledge re dogging (i.e. none).
reastie - I was going to throw you the link earlier because I know you're
nosy interested but didn't want to be presumptuous. Here it is though I'm afraid it'll shatter your Desperate Housewives illusion. V dated but in a nice area.
blizy - I do love a bit of property porn. Any prospective mindees or other opportunities?
Hi ladies...wee Oliver has made it thru the night but likely the bleed means he will have neurological problems...but the wee fighter is hanging on in there!
Yeah ladies, is totally flying by but also kinda feels like I wish she were here already? My friend had her 2nd wee boy a week past Friday there...I forgot how wee & delicate they are at that age. Not sure re named...we were thinking of Amelia Catherine as we liked that name last time but not sure now...
Went to docs today to rule out UTI as had horrid back pain at w/e so wanted to rule it out...I now think it may be ligament pain...but doc wants me to have GTT now as there was a teeny bit of glucose in my urine...
granny that's good news he made it through the night, hopefully he'll stay strong. Amelia Catherine works really well together I think, and works well with N too. Good luck with the docs
american that house looks so typically american even if it isn't desperate housewives-esque . Looks lovely and big. I had to double take on the dining room piccies as there was one table one minute, then it looked like the same room with another table
Granny, I love the name Amelia Catherine, but you still have plenty of time to decide. Boo to the GTT, I hope it comes back clear.
American, the house reminds of Elliot's house in ET! No, mindees in the pipeline yet.
Ponyo, went to Lanzarote when I was 5, I could pronounce it right and called it Lanzagrotty! It wasn't grotty, is very nice!
Thx ladies...Catherine was my mum's first name (& her mum etc...), so is kinda a wee nod to her memory..
GTT was supposed to be today, but hospital told doc wrong thing & you do actually need an appt...so now it's next Wed morning....not sure how I'll cope not eating til gone 12noon from 10pm the might before...might need to have a feast on the Tuesday evening me thinks .
Ha ha blizy I always thought Lanzagrotty was the slang name for it
Eek, they accepted our offer. It seems we're buying a house.
reastie - the "dining room" photos are the basement aka rec room (because who wouldn't want a formal dining room in the basement? ). I think we'll be converting the sitting room with the burgundy carpet into a dining room (carpet will be replaced with wood flooring).
Granny - I can't believe they expect a pregnant woman to not eat for 14 hours?! Don't worry about names too much, you still have time.
american yay! Must be meant to be. I liked the wooden floor in one of the piccies too btw.
Granny I refused the GTT when pg as I was so sicky and I knew I couldn't cope with the fasting. Hope it goes well and just as well you found out before you got there all hungry I guess (or did that happen?). A feast at 9:30 pm I reckon to get you through (or has the heartburn started already?)Any update on the little lad?
Alice has worked out how to scroll through all the photos on my camera and it's kept her busy for ages admiring photo's of herself . She's also now mastered putting DVDs in the DVD player and pressing the play button all on her own to get her DVD on!
Am super excited - I've only gone and won the Estee Lauder goodie bag from my product trial on mn. £180 worth of EL products are coming my way <jumps for joy>
blizy YY to americans house looking like the ET one!
<tumbleweed> where is everyone? <echo>
Is everyone on holiday?
reastie - I had something through the post from Boden sending me to a top-secret website on Monday. Is this usually a big blowout sale or should I get bothered about it? Also, congrats on the EL goodie bag.
I'm home with L this morning. The nursery phoned me yesterday to say he had a 39.5C fever (and please come get him immediately) and he was still a bit warm this morning. He seems fine after a bit of paracetamol but the fever comes back after it wears off. DH is taking the afternoon shift since my sick leave is already at a negative balance.
I'm here, I have been busy doing nothing!
American, do you have a move in date yet? I hope L is ok.
Reastie, fab that you won! The only thing I have ever won was a pair of count duckula socks at a school raffle when I was 8!
We have sunshine here today, he first in over A month! We went to the park after school, there was swarms of frogs everywhere! Hope everyone has agood weekend, I'm off out for dinner tonight with a friend, so looking forward to a few .
blizy at the fact you still remember winning those count duckula socks. I remember my Mum always seemed to win something at school raffles
maybe it was something to do with all the tickets she seemed to buy
american not sure re: boden. Think I've had that in the past then checked and it wasn't that great. I haven't bought anything from boden since before christmas tbh (when they had a glitch in their system and I got practically a whole wardrobe of clothes for Alice at everything less than half price). I'm fitting into alot of my pre preg clothes now so I don't need to buy new clothes so much
I'm here, have been reading just not posting! My hol isn't until August
All is well here, nursery are wanting to try potty training A as she wants to use their mini toilets, she had 2 accidents today but because she was sitting on the little toilets they couldn't tell if she did actually do anything
Its one year tomorrow since my Dad died, my mum is coming to visit and we are planning on getting outside, maybe wollaton park if the weather is nice, otherwise just keep busy all day. To be honest I felt worse about it at the beginning of the month, now its nearly here I just want to get the day over with.
Otherwise all is well, I got a 2 week trial at a gym so am aching all over after doing a class after work today
granny Amelia Catherine is lovely, that might be because Catherine is my middle name too! Can't believe how quickly the times gone for you, not long now!
reastie I am so so about the EL goodies, good for you! <must remember to enter these mn competitions>
American massive congrats to you, your house looks lovely with lots of potential too. Although its not too desperate housewives-ey its still so American looking, in that it looks big and has a big garden?!
blizy haha at lanzagrotty, I've heard it called that many a time - its not grotty though is it?! Hope you've enjoyed your tonight
wiggles big at your mantra for flying, I think I'll be remembering that one on the plane! How did A get on with swimming btw?
Bed for me soon, hi to everyone else
Ponyo - xx for tomorrow. L had a note a few weeks ago on his daily report from nursery that he likes to sit on the potty even if he doesn't actually use it. He did manage to poo in the toilet this morning
even if he did get it everywhere and we're watching Elmo's Potty Time on an endless loop. Yes, the garden is decently sized not like the postage stamp we had in the UK and there's a basement as well which nearly doubles the space. Also, I've flown with L three times never again and most people are very understanding. It tends to be the people without children who get the most annoyed.
blizy - Aww bless, Count Duckula.
Hi all. Ds new wake time seems to be 6.10.
Not too bad considering last week was 4.30
Well she started nursery this week.
Bit sad on Tuesday but yesterday she loved it.
I loved it even more as I browsed the charity shops and drank coffee in waitrose.
I can't believe how much I've missed time to myself.
The only problem is restraining myself from putting her in full time
As for potty training she is still dry if on knickers but will not pooh unless she has a nappy on. Just like ds3.
What do your dc do nowadays? I find d fairly difficult unless we go out.
She doesn't play for long and gets bored with tv.
The mornings are soul destroying before the day gets going.
Lots of demands boredom and whingeing.
Ponyo, thinking of you today. It's hard to believe that a whole year has passed already. I hope the day is gentle on you. X
ponyo hope today went ok for you all xx
ledkr strangely Anna has just got the hang of playing by herself. She will now spend quite a bit of time tootling about, shouting at her Happyland figures, she's a hard task master. Can't think where she gets that from
blizy loving the FB video of Alfie in the bath
Took Anna swimming this week, haven't been in ages, she took a dislike to the pool ages ago - just a flat refusal to go, so in keeping with my parenting mantra of "anything for an easy life" I had just left it. She clung to me the whole time, but there was no tears or grumbles. It's a nice pool, lots of little pools that you can sit in and have a bit of a splash. They open the pool early a couple of mornings a week for babies and pre-schoolers. They also heat the pool up a bit, do you get that lovely warm wee temperature . Going to go again this week to hopefully build on her newly found confidence!
Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend - Sun is shining here
Ponyo - hope you made it through yesterday. xx
ledkr - L started sleeping through on the day he started nursery, I don't think it's a coincidence. I'd have gone back to work earlier if I'd known that was going to happen. He's just started entertaining himself for short period, mostly playing with his cars.
wiggles - L wasn't keen on the pool at all but he loved the water park. Very shallow water with sprinkles and little slides. They're opening the outdoor pool here at the end of May so I'll try it again with him.
Where's RobinSparkles been? My skin has gone mental again so I thought of her.
I've had a very rubbish weekend. Not feeling well yesterday, slept until 10:30 and DH kindly told me I looked like hell. Woke this morning with red puffy eyes from dry skin (had a few days of cool dry weather) and all sorts coming out my nose. DH took L out so I had a 2hr nap and feeling a bit better. I can't afford to take any more sick leave so it's just as well it's happened at the weekend.
Had a nice day yesterday, thanks all, my mum visited and we went out for the day in the lovely weather. Before we went to wollaton park we went to a pub for some food - eating with a 2 year old is so much more stress free when you can sit outside and let them roam around a bit! Sitting inside is usually a stress trying to keep A distracted from getting in the way/walking where she shouldn't, but outside she was able to wander about and climb some little steps while we had our food, ace!
ledkr A is bloody contrary about playing by herself. She'll sometimes play nicely for a bit, which is usually her telling her toys off and bossing them about, but more often won't and whinges/wants to be picked up. She'll ask for stuff on the tv but won't watch it unless I'm sat next to her commenting on every thing peppa pig does
We went to my friends house today and I had to cut the visit short and leave bcos A kept hitting me and laughing, I told her off and she was having none of it. Came home and put her on the naughty step
American sorry to hear you've been unwell. Hows the job going? fwiw I would have been one of those people getting annoyed with crying babies on a plane before I had A, I was so clueless!
blizy hows you? Loving Alfie pics on facebook, hes such a handsome cat.
wiggles aw well done brave Anna, and well done you too! yes to lovely warm wee temperature, that made me laugh (so true!)
Oh yes, potty wise A has had lots of accidents this weekend and one wee on the potty. I'm going to send her into nursery with loads of pants but if it doesn't work this week think I'll knock it on the head for a bit, there's no rush and I don't want it to be a big deal. See ledkr nurseries are great, potty training for me! Tues are my half day at work, but A still goes to nursery all day, we all need a bit of 'me time' and I feel lucky I get it every Tuesday
Ledkr I agree time can drag when I'm at home alone with Alice during the day, especially mornings, sometimes I look at the clock and think 'cripes, still 3 hours till lunch, I don't know if my patience can cope with 3 hours of happyland' . We try to have things to do/go every day to break it up. The thing I'm struggling with is fitting in my exercise dvds as I'm working on a new program which should be an hour a day but I can't manage it whilst looking after Alice always . She will sometimes help me doing the washing/cleaning and can amuse herself sometimes and tends to be more likely to do this if i stick some nursery rhyme cd on in the background.
ponyo glad you had a nice day yesterday (well, not nice but went as well as it could have iykwim). fwiw alice is exactly the same re: watching tv only i have to sit with her and she tells me what's happening and i must always sound interested and repeat back to her what she said . anya sounds like she's being cheeky at the minute, oh and love the fact that nursery are potty training for you!
american hope you feel better soon. I was reading it thinking it was good it happened on a week end given what you said about time off recently
Suppose to go swimming for alice's lesson this afternoon but af here and it's my bad day (have a day or 2 every month where it literally pours out, sorry if tmi) and i'm paranoid i'll, ahem, leak whilst swimming. I want to go though and feel pathetic not going because of heavy period. What shall I do?
reastie - Have had a poke around the Boden sale and it's a bit disappointing. I need a new swimming costume but the one I want isn't in the sale. If swimming is less than an hour, I'd risk it but straight from the toilets to the pool then back to the toilets first thing. Do you still have the coil? I considered the copper coil but had heavy periods pre-pill and didn't want to risk it.
Ponyo - job is OK, still feel like I'm finding my feet a bit. I had to be a bit strong handed with a work colleague this morning, as he phrased something very rudely to me and I challenged him over it. I expected him to brush it off but he apologised. I felt I had to say something otherwise he'd keep doing it. Are you settled in to your job? I can't remember how long it's been for you.
I meant to say last week that when L's nursery phoned DH to get him, they said they knew he wasn't feeling well because he was crying and he never cries. DH and I were at that news as he never seems to stop crying and whinging at home. Seems unfair they get cheerful L and we get whingy L.
reastie I would have said not to go swimming, its not pathetic! Its not nice worrying about leakage and would be horrible if you did. But I realise you wrote that post this morning so my opinion is a bit irrelevant now! Glad A is the same as A when watching tv, its sometimes so annoying "who dat mummy? What his name? Why? Why? Who dat? What he do? Why why why??????????" aaaargh!!
American very interesting, A's nursery always say what a delight she is and how she fits right in and is so good, always eats her food etc etc. Whilst she is a bit of a whinger at home too. Its very reassuring tbh that its not just us (and yes it is unfair!)
My job is going well thanks, its been 5 months now. Got my 6 month review soon, think it'll be fine. Its not 'high pressure' but there's a lot more pressure than my old job but I like that, well most of the time! Working for an all women organisation is a change too, some strong characters there! What did this colleague of yours say if you don't mind me asking, what did you say back?
Got to go and get A soon. Any advice on the hitting anyone? (as in her hitting me?!) not sure whether to ignore, but don't want her to think its ok, but does naughty step draw too much attentionto it and she'll see it as a way of getting attention?
