Help needed - dont know who to vote for still

Is there any unbiased website that tells me in simple terms the good and bad points about each party?

I must admit politics bore the hell out of me, but I have been trying to decide who to vote for. I have done a few of these on-line quizzes and so far have been told all the 3 major parties at different times. Dont think that really helps me.

I have looked on their manefestos and still cant decide. Ive found places where it is broken down, but only what each party is going to do (ie the good stuff), but I want to know the bad stuff too. After all I dont want to vote for someone that says we will do x for you and then find out that they've taken y away. IYSWIM.

Ive tried looking on here, but TBH Im finding it all very confusing. Ive noticed a lot of 'I-cant-vote-tory' threads, but I dont really know why.

Id appreciate any help I can get as I firmly believe I should vote and should do it properly.

Thanks

Look at the BBC site for policies on the issues which are important to you

news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/election_2010/parties_and_issues/default.stm

Also Google your local candidates and see what their local priorities are.

This thread has a couple of impartial sites you could try.

Just looked at the BBC one, we've actually got a candidate for the monster raving looney party Just made me laugh, didnt realise they still exsisted.

I think Ive looked at most of these sites and I will be thinking of this all night. I think that for me personally all the major parties has some policies I agree with and some I dont. Im still no closer to deciding who to vote for.

How do I make a decision I know Im never going to be able to do? To be honest I dont think I'll ever really know who to vote for, but I'll keep looking to see if one of the parties suddenly stand up for me.

Has anyone else been through this or going through this? I want to vote and I want to do it properly, but I am really really stuck.

have a look at www.voteforpolicies.org.uk which puts key policies together in sets so you choose which set you most agree with rather than picking out individual headline policies because as you say 'some you agree with, some you don't', then you get your best match overall. You can also just choose the areas you are most concerned with.

Would back up what others have said about looking at policies and concentrating on what matters to you and your loved ones - and what will matter in the next 5 - 10 years. Failing that, go with your gut feeling regarding big state/small state (if you have one), but whatever you do, vote.

the Telegraph one is quite good

but be sure to follow the instructions and only tick the parties you would consider voting for at the end

Telegraph one is same one as on votematch. I didn't think it was that good as it picks out individual points and so allows you to agree or disagree with all parties in turn, when what you need to do is look at policies as a whole and find the group you agree with most.

agree with monkeysavingexpertdotcom, go with your gut feel. Go with those that you trust the most. Don't worry too much about their policies, many of them will not be implemented, even manifesto pledges are sometimes ignored. Who could have predicted some of the things that Labour did during their term in power? You won't be told the bad stuff that any of the parties will do, that's why you should go with your gut feel.
You have seen Labour in action over the last 13 years. Do you want more of the same or do you think it is time for a change? If so, choose the party that you think offers the most hope.
