Postal vote fraud

Does anyone else think there is a case for restricting postal votes to the elderly, the ill, and the armed forces?

In my opinion, the laxity of the current postal voting system - the out and out fraud (probably by all the parties) devalues our democracy.

Also, the beauty of the ballot box is that no-one can coerce you to vote against your wishes, because the vote is secret. You don't have that basic security with a postal vote.

The Armed Forces need electronic voting. There is no guarantee that the voting slips will get to Afghanistan or back in time. Perhaps that is the aim?

I am very suspicious of electronic voting. With a piece of paper it is obvious that the vote cast is the vote tallied. Not at all clear that the audit trails are at all robust with electronic votes.

However you are right - it is a scandal that so many of our troops are disenfranchised when they are posted overseas. Every effort should be made so that all those who want to vote can do so.

In particular, there should be much more latitude in registration, and far higher priority for election mail.

This is what happens to you if you try to expose postal voting scams

Utterly chilling.

And what about other Brits overseas?

This is the reason I've appointed a proxy for this election - I don't trust postal voting.

This may be a zombie thread but events in the Peterborough by-election show that nothing has been done to combat voter fraud.
It's so shocking that the guy helping to run Labour's campaign has actually gone to prison for postal vote fraud!

Certainly raises eyebrows (and a few questions).

I would love to see a breakdown between parties of those postal votes.

Apparently most of them were for labour, go figure 🙄

Well knock me down with a feather!!

Is anyone looking into it do you know? I did see that there is currently a petition about it on change.org.

I'd love to see it restricted to few situations. PV on demand is stupid.
