Postal voting for DS1

Does anyone know anything about this. My eldest asked for a postal vote but we got a polling card through the door today - does that mean he hasn't got a postal vote and if he hasn't can he do anything about it now?

Today (5pm) was last time to be on electoral roll. Your best bet is to phone the council's electoral registration office and ask as they'll either say "sorry, we've sent the card, he needs to use it in a polling station" or {perhaps} "sorry, our mistake, we'll put it in the post" (if that's done tomorrow then it's probably possible they can admit their mistake and sort it out).

Thanks WebDude, He's going back to uni this week and really wants to vote. I'll try them tomorrow morning. I guess DH or I will have to drive him back for the evening if it all goes wrong.

I wonder how many "clued up" students are actually going to vote twice (as seems possible, based on them being allowed to be on 2 electoral rolls). Clearly not your son, but there might be some 'activist' types who'd take advantage of a postal vote and a local vote (or two 'local' votes if they can travel on the day).

I told DS1 what you said and he checked with his friends on Facebook and via them the college and it seems he IS on the electoral roll at uni - so problem solved then - he can vote there.

The helpline was a bit overstretched today - they said that some postal votes are overlapping with the ballot card and they are slightly behind with registering postal votes. They asked me to check again 'after the 22nd'.
