Quiz - are you left or right wing?

With the election coming up, I thought it would be interesting to do this quiz

I come out as slightly right wing, tending towards anarchist

Please post your results - I'm interested to find out how similar, or diverse we are. I'm nothing to do with any political party, just curious

My dot pretty much correlates with Nelson Mandela's dot. Sort of mid-left towards the middle line between liberal and authoritarian but on the liberal side. Think it's fairly accurate.

Your political compass

Economic Left/Right: 1.12
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -0.72

I am slightly to the right, libertarian. i think

1 box from centre of grid to the right and down 1 box to libertarian

I came out a not-that-strong left-libertarian, bit nearer the centre than Gandhi and Mandela. Surprised actually - expected to be even more centre and maybe even shading slightly into the upper left quadrant.

I wonder why there are no examples of slightly right wing libertarian politicians? They are quite an authoritarian lot aren't they

I'm a bit to the right of Nelson Mandela, which surprised me a bit as I thought I would be more towards the right. Perhaps I subconsciously answered what I thought I should rather than what I really think.

I did this a while ago and came out somewhere in the same quarter as Ghandi

Clegg is obviously the most libertarian of the main party leaders, for example, declassifying a lot of drugs, but I'm not sure where he fits on the left/right axis.

Cameron wants to scrap ID cards, doesn't want 42 days detention without charge for terrorist suspects, and wants to restrict council powers to spy on you. In itself, that is far more libertarian than Brown.

There are Tories who are very authoritarian, like Michael Howard, and Tories who are very libertarian, like David Davis and Daniel Hannan, but who are also far too right-wing for my liking.

Interestingly, Harriet Harman, one of the least libertarian politicians out there, was once the director of Liberty!

I think people who spend a lot of time on the internet are automatically more libertarian than the population at large, whether they are left-wing or right-wing.

The internet by its nature is pretty anarchic, largely free from state interference, and gives much more power and freedom to individuals.

So far, we are mostly libertarian, so why are all the main political parties drifting towards being more authoritarian? Is this the gap in politics that could be filled by a new party? Or do the libdems need to get back to where they were 20 odd years ago?

Didn't realise that about Harriet Harman mateykatie...

Great quiz - made me think, which I haven't done for about 3 weeks

Economic Left/Right: -8.00
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -6.36

Nicely nestled between Mandela and the Dalai Lama

Will you do an analysis and post us a lovely pie chart please??
