Anybody see it?

Cameron uncharacteristically on the ropes - Labour made the most of his admission (for the first time) that the recession was Europe-wide! Brown, who has stumbled and fumbled and thumped his big clunking fist for the past few weeks, was on better form than usual and gave robust responses. Clegg struggling to make an impact.

Amusing bit in the listeners' comments - "Does Gordon Brown seriously think the public are so stupid that they don't know the difference between real and nominal spending, and that they will be taken in by it?"

Answer - he does! They are! And they will!

I don't know the difference between real and nominal spending. Can you explain it to me?

I'm not great on economics! That wasn't the point I was making - I was saying that, if Brown is assuming people won't know the difference then he's right!

But I think it's this - the nominal amount is I think always an amount which is predicted, without inflation, whereas real spending is, well, what you actually spend. With inflation factored in.

I caught a glimpse. But to be honest, I can't watch because the leaning, thumping, shouting and childishness drives me crazy. I'm waiting for a PM to come along and refuse to lean on that bloody podium and just stand and talk to the crowd like any other person speaking in public would do.

Sorry for bringing the tone down!

GB still appears to be floundering and fluffing to me today - like a big gaping fish out of water.
