Weed chills, alcohol kills

BratFarrarsPony Tue 08-Nov-16 17:48:36

do you have a link to a study that there are 0 cannabis deaths a year? and 'tens of thousands' of alcohol deaths? or did you just make it up?
Possibly cannabis does not kill directly but what about road deaths and what about mental health?
"Discuss" - my arse - are you a teacher?

TheChineseChicken Tue 08-Nov-16 17:49:34

Lung cancer?

Ostrobogulous Tue 08-Nov-16 17:50:40

"Discuss" won't go down well!

MadameCholetsDirtySecret Tue 08-Nov-16 17:51:02

This isn't a gcse mock exam. hmm

Meadows76 Tue 08-Nov-16 17:51:44

Yes. Ok please supply links to back up your information otherwise your post is a non starter.

user1478625507 Tue 08-Nov-16 17:51:47

I'm wrong, 3.3 million deaths every year are attributed to alcohol not tens of thousands: www.niaaa.nih.gov/alcohol-health/overview-alcohol-consumption/alcohol-facts-and-statistics.

It is impossible to overdose on cannabis, alcohol's toxic dose for someone without tolerance is only 4* the drink driving limit. Cannabis can possible worsen mental health for people with pre-existing conditions, but even then it's nowhere near as clear-cut as you might believe.

slightlypeevedwombat Tue 08-Nov-16 17:53:46

I fucking hate 'discuss'

What else do you think people do on a discussion board??

iklboo Tue 08-Nov-16 17:53:51

Those are US statistics.

user1478625507 Tue 08-Nov-16 17:54:22

TheChineseChicken This is a difficult one. What's for certain is that the tobacco some weed smokers mix it with (makes no sense to mix a stimulant to something that can cause panic attacks in some people but I digress) is much more likely to cause lung cancer than cannabis. Eating the drug as in marijuana brownies would remove any cancer risk.

BratFarrarsPony Tue 08-Nov-16 17:54:23

OK so you are a stoner.....
I need to test the quality of what you are smoking.
Please post me at least a quarter.

Ostrobogulous Tue 08-Nov-16 17:54:38

Oh are we talking about deaths in the United States?

ineedamoreadultieradult Tue 08-Nov-16 17:55:28

I have a friend that was stabbed to death over a cannabis debt. I have a work colleague whose son was killed in a car crash caused by a driver under the influence of cannabis. I am not going to "discuss' as I am not sitting my GCSEs but both alcohol and cannabis can have devastating affects.

fakenamefornow Tue 08-Nov-16 17:55:39

Hold on 3.3 million, isn't that about 5% of the population? Are you saying 1 person in 20 is dieing every year from alcohol consumption?

user1478625507 Tue 08-Nov-16 17:56:35

Ostrobogulous Yeah I tried to get either global figures or UK figures, but I think it illustrates the point. Same culture basically, just divide the figure by 6

user1478625507 Tue 08-Nov-16 17:57:54

BratFarrarsPony Lol believe it or not I've only ever tried it once. Incidentally this will make DM readers' heads explode: www.mirror.co.uk/news/weird-news/marijuana-mum-smokes-bong-makes-7461436.

BratFarrarsPony Tue 08-Nov-16 17:58:13

" Same culture basically, just divide the figure by 6 "

oh yes very scientific....grin

ihatethecold Tue 08-Nov-16 17:58:35

My son developed drug induced psychosis through cannabis use.
He tried to kill himself 4 times this year.

You just sound like an ill advised knob!!

qwom Tue 08-Nov-16 17:59:24

My ex was a stoner. He beat me to a pulp whilst 'high', I truly believed he would kill me.

Wonder how many other people have been killed by someone under the influence somehow - eg driving under the influence....

Pointeshoes Tue 08-Nov-16 17:59:34

Discuss?

Nah your alright thanks

LouisvilleLlama Tue 08-Nov-16 17:59:42

It might not kill directly but it fucked my aunt up mentally and then she went on to harder stuff, and she is now dead, her MH was fine before.

Also "discuss" fuck off with that shit

user1478625507 Tue 08-Nov-16 17:59:58

ineedamoreadultieradult If you want to stop horrific crimes caused by drug dealers, the solution is to legalise. I sympathise with your friend but the cause of his death was not cannabis. I absolutely believe anyone driving under the influence of anything should be thrown in jail and be banned from driving for life

user1478625507 Tue 08-Nov-16 18:01:49

ihatethecold I used to be an alcoholic and tried to commit suicide many times under its influence. By that logic, alcohol should be banned

LouisvilleLlama Tue 08-Nov-16 18:02:22

ihate psychosis same as my aunt. But hey you can't overdose!

pugsake Tue 08-Nov-16 18:02:57

Cannabis can cause mental health problems in young people especially men.

It's the reason DD is not allowed to see her dad.

It's not "cool" it's a shitty horrible drug that can ruin lives.

I have zero respect for "parents" who smoke it while in charge of their children. I actually massively judge them.
