From previous thread: Winchester-That's what Trump supporters are saying. 'Just because Trump did this doesn't cancel out what Hillary did'. It works both ways. I pity US voters. What a choice

I've changed my mind. I don't think that this will be the end of him because this is not about personalities but about ideologies. Globalists vs nationalists. Both stand for something and as such, are much bigger than their own characters and actions. I can't call it at this stage but I still have money riding on a Trump win Grin

Problem is that the Establishment are in a last ditch attempt to try and stop Trump.

"Jonathan Martin ‏@jmartNYT · 4m

Trump can say he's not dropping out.

But key GOP leaders are moving today to drop him

And that will effectively end his candidacy"

Pressure mounting on Trump from the elite.

Tweets coming out that "more oppo" is coming out about Trump and he should drop out.

Trump says he is going nowhere. Trump fans ready to tune in for biggest debate ever tomorrow. Establishment pundits saying that this will be Trump's Waterloo, but forget to say that Trump is Wellington.

Guardian journalist, Jonathan Freedland, retweeting

Laura Rozen Retweeted Hugh Hewitt

"More and worse oppo coming,"
Hugh Hewitt @hughhewitt
For the benefit of the country, the party and his family, and for his own good, @realDonaldTrump should withdraw. More and worse oppo coming

Establishment worldwide think their prayers have been answered, but their hopes were dashed when Trump said he is going nowhere.

Stage set for the biggest debate in history tomorrow. Establishment will all be tuning in, so will Trump fans.

"they are not going to make me quit, I will never quit"

What is 'oppo'? Sorry, pardon my ignorance!

Report
WinchesterWoman · 08/10/2016 17:07

This is just unbelievable. If Hillary Clinton wasn't such a terrible candidate this would never have happened. Somebody normal could have stood against her. Then the media and the 'establishment' would have been more even handed. But when the media and the Republican establishment rallied round Clinton, it alienated so many people, destroyed so much trust, that we end up with this awful mess.

'oppo' seems to be opposition info or something like that i.e. negative info that the opposition have researched and found and can dump on Trump.

Re WaPo: 'They' still don't get it. The very day this tape is out - Trump starts the first steps towards looking like a bullied victim, David against the Establishment Goliath.

The dictionary definition of 'oppo' is opposition research

US politics is eating itself. It's too depressing.

Thanks Claig - so just basically 'stirring up shit' type stuff then?

I guess we can expect that from both sides now that we're weeks away from the finish line.

Carly Fiorina (which I remember back in the day for her post as CEO of Hewlett Packard and is or was a political candidate) has started a FB page saying this...
"Donald Trump does not represent me or my party. I understand the responsibility of Republicans to support their nominee. Our nominee has weighty responsibilities as well. Donald Trump has manifestly failed in these responsibilities.
I have traveled the country for years warning Americans that Hillary Clinton is unfit to be President.
We must have a conservative in the White House to restore accountability, opportunity and security. For the sake of our Constitution and the rule of law, we must defeat Hillary Clinton.
Today I ask Donald Trump to step aside and for the RNC to replace him with Gov. Mike Pence"

Given that Trump massively insulted her appearance only last year (saying ... god, look at her face, who would vote for that.. plus more insults) I think she has been remarkably restrained.

'so just basically 'stirring up shit' type stuff then?'

Yes, except it will be real researched and fact-based stuff that teams of hired investigators, researchers and journalists have found. Unlikely to be made up stuff and the fact that the Establishment pundits are tweeting it means that they have much more to come on Trump. This inevitably means that Trump will have no choice but to take the gloves off and tell the truth about the Establishment. Stakes could not be higher, world leaders praying that the "oppo" that the Establishment have unearthed on Trump will finish him off.

'Carly Fiorina (which I remember back in the day for her post as CEO of Hewlett Packard and is or was a political candidate)'

Yes, ex-CEO of HP and stood as a candidate in the primaries for Republican presidential nominee. She is a good candidate and one day will probably be President. The only negative is that she is anti-Trump.

Mike Pence in the Oval Office? No. Just no.

Carly Fiorini has no right to suggest that Republican voters be ignored. She must know that.

Report
Roussette · 08/10/2016 17:27

The only negative is that she is anti-Trump.

A point in her favour one would've thought and hardly surprising given his rudeness about her appearance. He has a habit doesn't he of denigrating women's appearances....

He denigrates women, he denigrates men, he does it equally.
