Leave or remain polls

Hi

Just wondering how the polls are looking. I live 'oop north' and feel in the minority, voting remain! I am wondering whether it is therefore as close as what people are saying as it feels like leave have it sorted up here!

My brother tells me that down in London it is mostly remain too but just wondering what people are thinking....

Think it really varies by area. We have been away for the weekend. Town where we stayed was full of remain posters but all we saw on the journey was "vote leave".

Most people near me seem to be in favour of remain.

I think it's really hard to call.

I live in South Essex and I would say it is about 80% Leave here. I'm firmly Remain and am worried.

I work in London (Canary Wharf bank) however which I would say is 95% Remain so am hoping I just live in an unusual pocket.

Worried to hear oooop north also gives you the Essex feeling though.

I live in Bucks/Herts borders.

It's very much leave around here.

I'm remain.

Well I'm in Kent and there are Leave signs all over the place and I've not seen a single Remain one , seems to be all the local farmers are for leaving .

Well I am reman and my dh is leave. Causes no end of arguments in our household!

I was cross the other day Though because I put a remain poster in our window and dh told me to take it down as he was worried that our house might be subject to vandalism! He was worried after the attack on jo cox and we have a 14 month old.

Also what if the voting goes 51/49 to brexit, we'd obviously leave, but it would mean that almost half the country aren't in favour. This isn't a democracy then surely?

South East, I would say 70% Leave amongst family and friends.

It's nice to talk to other fellow remainers. I don't understand how people can vote leave, it seems to me that in excuse for a desire for power particularly amongst leave. Hence the 'let's take control' buzz sentence. Do we want Boris, farage and Gove in control?

Music 1001 v 1000 voting is democracy.

Yes but what I mean is that surely the margin of winning is so small that it's not really completely reflective of the majority ie a day later that one person could have switched sides?

It doesn't seem to be the fairest way of making such an important decision, if it is so close.

We are also a split household music. DH's main argument is 'he's voting for change'. Just thinks things are generally not great and would like to see the opportunity to change things. He's not agreed with any of my arguments for remain Sad

MusicMum18 · 19/06/2016 19:04

Yes but as I keep saying to my dh, change is not necessarily for the better. Surely it makes most sense to work with our neighbours.

I vote remain and yet try to improve the way things are done with the eu.

Keep up the fight chewbecca I keep trying to persuade my dh!

Not many politicians have told us about the good things are of staying in the eu either?!!

I'm really interested to see what the turnout is.
Hopefully it will be good, but I'm not holding my breath tbh.

I think turnout will be huge. I don't know anyone not voting.

musicmum by your logic, surely 51/49 remain should mean leaving?

Carol decker what I am trying to say is that if the country is so evenly split, whichever decision we reach, potentially almost half will oppose. That's a lot of people. I think the politicians should try to find a compromise. That's why I think we should remain and reform. We are a big player in the eu and the eu is constantly evolving anyway. We should work with our neighbours. Re immigration, immigrants are being made out to be bad. Not necessarily true they have a lot to offer our country. Plus it hasn't been mentioned about the numbers we have emigrating from the uk. Leave is far to right wing for me. And I'd rather trust dc who I'm not a big fan of than Boris, Gove and farage. It's a power struggle.

Financial Times poll of polls tonight puts it on 44% leave, 44% remain.

Will be interesting to see what GBP and the FTSE do tomorrow. Today's massive moves were a big old leap of faith towards remain, but it's not over yet.

I'm on the outskirts of north London. Fairly mixed around here although I'd say slightly more towards the remain based on the posters I see and conversations I hear. I'm originally from where Essex meets east London. The people on my Facebook from that area are overwhelmingly voting leave, I'm going to vote remain and am getting worried now.

I am wondering about the younger demographic. My niece and nephew who have voted in GE and recent local elections utility have said they won't in this answers many of their friends are the same.

They aren't sure which way you vote and if they do they'll spoil the paper or not bother.

Apparently many of their friends are the same.
