Just wondering if my last hope of the House of Lords voting against the tax credits changes has happened yet?

What is your prediction?
I think the changes will go ahead otherwise Cameron and co will look very stupid otherwise

I have no idea what's going to happen but I think they should freeze the tax credits at the levels they are so no one loses any money. Cameron and co look pretty stupid most of the time anyway so a no vote in the House of Lords will just add to that! :)

If they vote against then you are going to see reform of the lords run up the agenda. It also means it will be back to the Lords attached to a bill they daren't vote against.

its today

I don't think it will make any difference, i think the changes will still go ahead

i actually think its for the best long term, as hopefully this will make the general public realise what utter cunts the tories are and actually get off their arses in 2020 and vote them out (I speak as someone who will be 3k a year worse off)

I watched the chap on the news this morning from the tories talking about the tax cuts. I could of climbed into the television and slapped the smug cunt across the face!

That's my intelligent input anyway

I am glad I didn't watch then. They speak seductively, it makes my skin crawl.

Did they seriously call them 'tax cuts'?

I really hope they stop it. Whatever your politics, it's not right to drag so many people in the poverty so quickly. Surely the conservatives think work should pay, buy they will likely push people into situations where they would be better off not working? Luckily I have never have to claim any benefits or tax credits, but I want to live in a society that supports the poorest and most vulnerable and doesn't let children live in poverty. I would blame the people who voted conservative, but this wasn't in their manifesto and they even said they wouldn't do it. I think that is wrong. Good on the Lib Dems and Labour for trying the stop/delay these plans.

If it wasn't so tragic it would be funny that while the House of Lords are debating cuts to the poor the House of Commons are debating tax breaks for the rich.

luis some of the Lords are great. I wrote to a handful when the tories were pushing the CSA charges through and I got some very supportive letters in return. Obviously the tories overturned the Lords 'no' vote back then Angry.
