Is it a good idea to have a vegan in the shadow cabinet?

Leaving aside the fact that it will annoy farmers is it wise? Im mildly concerned that Georgre Osbourne is on the 5:2 diet but at least he gets some protein. Even being in the shadow cabinet must be a stressful occupation and maybe its OK to be a vegan if your wearing flip flops in your garden thinking about windmills all day but surely not if your immersed in the forefront of Westminster politics?

no joke-serious. Brainpower and alertness depends on protein. Vegans don't get any.

Yes obviously vegans get no protien at all, they are all so pale and skinny its amazing they can even get out of bed in the morning.
OP maybe you could try googling vegan bodybuilders and get some pics of these protien deficient people

Oh and I'm not a vegan - the fact I can't spell the word 'protein' has nothing to do with lack of meat!

A perfect potential Corbyn 'lunatics in charge of the asylum' government representative for our livestock farmers businesses/livelihood.

Who says inner city Labour hates the countryside.

Meat-eaters should be treated like smokers, says the vegan shadow environment secretary Kerry McCarthy
www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/meat-eaters-should-be-treated-like-smokers-says-the-vegan-shadow-environment-secretary-kerry-10515299.html

"Meat eaters should be treated in the same way as smokers and targeted with ad campaigns urging them to become vegetarians, according to Labour's new spokeswoman for the farming industry."

"Kerry McCarthy, who has admitted she is a "militant" vegan, was appointed shadow environment secretary in Jeremy Corbyn'sfront-bench team, alarming countryside campaigners who warned that her veganism and strong opposition to hunting and the badger cull would harm Britain's farming industry."

What, no more smart comments about Corbyn's choice of minister of British meat, within his 'tent of no talents'?

Or would that mean getting down to Labour polices, rather than spend all your time spreading porkie slurry?

Roll on the next UK General Election and Labour's 'Z' Team of political throwbacks and fruit cakes.

I was one who thought Labour had to survive to provide an effective and thoughtful opposition, but looking at the types of low life people who FOLLOW Labour - I hope the whole movement it put down like the rabid pig it is.

But don't take it personally. lol

I don't care whether a person chooses to be vegetarian, vegan or a meat eater...it does not affect their ability to do their job...but I do care a lot about hunting and the badger cull.

I'm glad someone in politics cares about animal welfare and how poor farming standards potentially affects what we eat.

I agree with Mud. I'm not a fan of labour never have been. Nor am I vegetarian or vegan. But Magpie's posts are laughable.

Treating meat eaters like smokers? Does Labour suggest they eat outside? Confused
