The lie that people are better off on benefits than in work exposed.

Actually the most ant-EU government this country has ever had was also arguably the most socialist, namely the post-war Attlee government.

They took one look at the European Coal and Steel Community (forerunner of the EU) and realised straight away what it was all about, namely a nascent federal European superstate, and would have nothing to do with it.

There is a long and honourable old-Labour tradition of scepticism towards the EU (and its precursors): Attlee, Jay, Bevin, Gaitskell, Shore, Benn etc.

Absolutely right. The pro-EU Labourites are the Fabian grouping which now runs Labour for its own edification. You know the types, Polly Toynbee and her mates.

Isn't the Democracy Movement, rather like UKIP, just another anti-EU one-trick pony? Looking at their website, they don't appear to have any other policies.

Well I'm looking at Adam's manifesto, and he seems to be a good old-fashioned socialist, with lots of spending plans and ideology but not really much of an idea about where to get the money to pay off the debts from the last lots of socialists with ideologies and spending plans.

Democracy Movement Names First Candidate

Democracy 2015, the movement launched by Andreas Whittam Smith, founder of The Independent, is to field its first parliamentary candidate in next month’s Corby by-election.

He is Adam Lotun, a campaigner for the disabled, who describes himself on his blog as “a family man who holds traditional values, some say old-fashioned ideals, and someone who has become disaffected with our political system along with our coalition administration.”

He added: “I have decided to stand for Parliament as I believe that there needs to be a change in the way of thinking of MPs, their work in their constituencies and their work in Parliament.”

He began his career at a large NHS teaching hospital, but later moved into the IT industry, where in 1991 he suffered a workplace accident, which left him registered disabled.

He claims to have been manhandled by police during a protest in August outside the Department for Work and Pensions about the way work capability assessments are organised.

He had announced that he would run in Corby as an independent before he was offered the chance to be a candidate for Democracy 2015, a grassroots movement that aims to get people who have achievements outside politics into Parliament.

The by-election, on 15 November, was set off by the decision of Louise Mensch, a Tory, to quit politics to be with her husband in New York. She had a majority of 1,951.

Adam Lotun - Democracy 2015's First Candidate

Has anybody any views on the Corby by election, with it looking like Adam Lotun, (www.adamlotun.org.uk), who is currently running as an independent is going to be announced Monday as the first official parliamentary candidate for Democracy 1015, (www.democracy2015.com), who have the support of the Independent newspaper, with it being considered by many that this will push Adam forward from being an outsider to one of a front runner making a George Galloway type landslide possible.

Highest regards,

Holmey
