which I would like to be on the rape of Dinah (assignment brief is to take a text from the O/Testament and research, analyse)- have read a bit aboput the episode from a cultural POV but would to ensure there are some decent commentaries etc available before I commit.

Thanks!

blueletterbible.org has a ton of commentaries linked to each specific chapter. Obviously you'd want to get a wider sampling, but it would be a good place to start for ideas/direction etc.

Presume you have pretty good library Peachy, and want to come at it from a variety of pov?

If you like I could email you my exegesis guidelines (working out the intent of the original author) which I found very useful for these sorts of essays last year at college. I'll be in college tomorrow and can get an electronic copy from them.

I cant remember the names of some of the good commentaries on OT history/tradition off the top of myhead, but if you like I will have a look at the shelves tomorrow. There is a particularly good seris of Jewish commentaries which we use for OT stuff (which have the added bonus of being backwards which I just LOVE).

I would think you shoudl be able to get plenty stuff. What length is the assignment?

I'll be asking you soon - our lectures start with Pauline THeology next Wed am but I am a Fresher's Week organiser this week!

You can access the Theological Heritage Users Group laibrary catalogue here THUG Catalogue which might give you an idea of what is available, but you have to be creative with your search terms, and of course it doesnt tell you if your Uni has it. If there are any books you want me to have a quick look at and/or photocopy relevant passages then just ask - there's shelves of Genesis commentaries from the most liberal to the most conservative!!

HArrissey, I ahve a good book on pauline Theology if you want it- won't see myself using it again? No charge (done its job here LOL)

Would be great to have that exegesis stuff, my e-mail is [email protected]

Thanks Suebaroo- because the Uni is just starting with all this (although we have access to Lampeter books) we've been told we can use internet sources as well- so a really useful e-mail address!

Isn't MN fab

Its not something I've covered, but I found when writing OT essays, that Jewish theological sites are more detailed...
