what Easter stuff will you be doing?

My son is keen to go to the early morning service on Sunday. TBH we are not religious but I would really like to take him as he is curious and maybe so am I.

Any suggestions of what Easter services are good to take children to over the next few days.

Your local church probaly ha a family communion service on Easter Sunday. This will be child friendl and fun.

how would it feel for someone unknown to the church to just turn up?

You would be welcome with open arms I am sure. I am shy and when I go back to my parents house I slip in and sit at the back and no-one notices me, where as at the chirch I go to noramlly they make a big effort to welcome peoeple.

I hope you enjoy it. Churches are not cliquey places.

If you google your local church it is bound to have a website and so you can check out chruch times or just walk past one tomrorw and see what times there servies are.

whereabouts are you DT? Someone might know of a family friendly church nearby. I agree with Cazzy, most churches would be delighted to have someone turn up at any time, but would probably expect it at Christmas and Easter.

Definitely try Easter Day Communion.

We have done various by-the-book Passiontide and Holy Week services this week (at which any newcomer would have been welcome btw) but on Sunday, we will be having a predictably raucous Easter Egg Hunt, some jolly Revivalist hymns and general accessible merry-making.

We have a few families who really do only make it for Christmas and Easter and they are just as welcome as people who turn up week in, week out.

Just a thought - how old is your ds dimpledthighs?

Many churches do a quite dramatic, light-in-the-darkness Easter Eve vigil on the Saturday evening. An older child curious about what happens at Easter might find that very interesting.

There are always plenty of unfamiliar faces that come to easter services and the services are nearly always child friendly on easter Sunday.

You'll blend in and it'll be interesting and maybe even fun.(although that depends alot on each church!)

I think going to church makes it seem more like 'easter' a proper day with a celebration rather than just random egg giving, even if your not particuarly religious. IYSWIM??

That may be why your Ds wants to go, see what the whole easter thing is about.
