I know not everyone celebrates Easter the same, but there doesnt seem to be any 'Jesus' films on the whole weekend? or is there?

fiddler on the roof, happy feet, etc but nothing for Good Friday?

surprised as at least ONE channel will show either a mass/reflection/or something?

there have been a few proggrammes during the week (missed the Anne Widdicombe one) and there will be songs of praise on sunday, but ....
anyone know if theres anything on?

wish theyd show Jesus christ Superstar or something like that.

no doubt there will be a service from somewhere.

Glad to see they are celebrating Jesus' roots ... :-)

It's probably because most people don't really care that much.

Or they're confused about the annual celebration that's never on the same date each year.....

Well, not really, it's a Pagan festival based on a lunisolar calendar and defined as the first Sunday after the full moon following the March Equinox. My comment was slightly tongue in cheek. I mean, why would you celebrate the anniversary of someone's death on a different date each year. Perhaps there will be some religious films on over the real anniversary.

I sometimes watch Christian films on the religious channels on Sky. They get some really good ones but for some reason the signal isn't always good.

On Saturday they are showing Belle and the Beast on GOD Channel and they are showing the Easter Story later which looks like more of a sermon than a film.

On Sunday morning there is a programme about The Gaithers (love their songs!) at 6.30am on revelation.

WWJD is on UCB TV 2pm Sunday - Really want to watch that as I have just started reading the book!! 3pm on GOD Channel is Elizabeth's Gift.

3.30pm on Monday on GOD Channel is The River Within which sounds interesting. x

There are a few bits and pieces on the radio - 8.00 this evening on Radio 2 there is Gospel readings and music from the Messiah. Easter morning early there is the Archbishop of Canterbury on Classic FM. Also various services. But I agree it would be good if they would put some sort of drama or discussion program on the TV.

Will have a look at plaingirly's suggestions too

Christ was crucified at Passover, which is a movable feast in the Jewish calendar.

There's a film called 'Barabbas' on Channel 5 this afternoon. RT calls it 'overlong and tedious' though so not sure I will bother.

YY to Manchester Passion - think they do this every year, wish they would show it! It was the best bit of Easter programming I had seen. I'm a bit cross the beeb are doing pretty much nothing tbh :(

Yes just found a couple of things, Nat geographic had some interesting programmes today about Jesus.

Barrabas and the Robe....hmmm...better than nothing but still not quite focussing on JESUS.

Pedro was thinking more on the easter date and my teeny mind realsied Good Friday needs to be on a FRIDAY and esater sunday falls on a SUNDAY so therefore work round that too! duh, me!Christmas day is anyday that falls on the 25th!

plaingirly yes Dc and I watch the God channels too but nothing really jumped out at us.

One year they had J John with an easter series, The brilliant Easter Experience series WAS on but theyve stopped it now.

Just miffed as every year DC and I have a tradition of watching Jesus Christ Superstar, the film, and an Easter cartoon thing called Rez, the rock that rolled, but as were in the middle of packing to move house i packed them away, thinking wed have moved by now and it just hasnt been the same without our trad ritual!

Sorry to go off at a tangent but Madhair I would love to know if the Manchester Passion is done every year. I live in the north west and would definitely go and see it.

It doesn't seem to be on DVD, I can only find bits of it on youtube.

I thought I'd heard about local passion plays, thought Manchester did one, though not as high profile as the original with the famous actors etc. I may be wrong on this though.

I think the Manchester Passion was a live tv event, doubt they would show it again for that reason.

I agree though OP, there's nothing "seasonal" on at all.
