"Positive thinking" can help put you into situations where good things happen, so if you really believe you're going to get the pay rise you're asking for, it is more likely to happen than if you go in thinking the boss is never going to go for it.

But beyond that, no I think it's a load of nonsense, and any results are going to be a coincidence.

Who or what exactly do people believe is delivering these things to them? And why would he/she/it/they be doing that?

If it worked there would be world peace and I would be slim and permanently 18.

I believe in the power of visualisation as an excellent tool to help achieve your dreams. You can't visualise winning the lottery and expect to but picturing what you want in your head can help you take steps every day to getting closer to it. Look up Tom Daley and him drawing a picture of him competing in the last Olympics when he was about 8. Bradley Wiggins did it too. I did a 'cosmic ordering' shopping list about five years ago - including quite big things like selling our house in a terrible area and moving to a larger house in a nicer area. We couldn't sell out house and didn't have a deposit for a new one. But we managed it through pleading with parents to lend us money. It wasn't magical but it happened. All but one out of about 10 things happened. Not through magic I don't think but focusing on the things you really want and working towards them.

Mylittlepuds. Exactly my thoughts. I was in need of extra money in Sep and put my cash request out to the universe. By the end of the month I had 1500 extra through unexpected sources. So for me it works and there are tons of sources on the internet like the secret. Visulisation is key!

I would say to Google and go on law of attraction forums for tips and stories. For me it works by deciding what I would like, visualising already having it and then forgetting about it and not worrying. It is basically trusting that it will be. Realise that it Sounds like codswallop and there are a lot of nay sayers out there but for me it works and that is all I can go on. I've used it for money and jobs mainly and 9/10 I get my request :)

I think it 'works' in that it makes you solidify your thoughts and focus on what it is you actually want.
It works the same way writing a list of short, medium and long goals would. Once you've said the words out loud its something tangible to work towards. Like 'I want to lose weight' vs 'I want to lose 10lbs by February'.
Nothing mystical, woo or cosmic about it.

I think that thread was to do with a thread (a thread about a thread about a thread? Confused) where a woman asked how to act surprise when her boyfriend proposed to her. When asked how she knew, she said she cosmic ordered that she would be proposed to by him in the year 2012, it was started on the 28th I think or something, and last time I looked (early this morning) she hadn't replied.

This is the thread

Personally, I think it's a stronger form of resolution. You cosmic order that you something- it makes you work towards it because you think it WILL happen, it IS possible, you CAN do it- low self esteem and pessimism- reasons why a lot of people (including me) fail in things which are achievable.

So, although I don't believe in it, it allows you to say to yourself that it WILL happen, and that makes it a tiny bit easier to work towards it.

yes u are right I think u tell yourself it will happen, have a positive view on certain goals they become easier to achieve.
yes I read that thread so we never knew gte outcome did he/didn't he propose last night Hmm

If it works then why has it only worked for things like people finding an extra tenner, their partner proposing, or being given a new tv but it hasn't worked for ridding the world of poverty or having world peace?

But I don't think anyone on this thread is saying it's woo. It's just a way of focusing on what you want and consciously and subconsciously working toward those goals - making them more likely to happen. You can't affect other people free will!

Noel Edmonds claimed he used this to rejuvenate his career and land "Deal or no deal". I wish the universe had been a little more discriminating on that one!
