Non-believers do you have an answer as to how the world/universe was created. What about nature? Where did that come from? Who created us? I could go on but would love to hear your opinions

Have you really never heard of it Shock

My highly intelligent answer would be, "It just did ok?" :)

This has been bugging you , like, all day?? Grin

Sorry, that just made me chuckle.

Nobody created us. A gazillion things happened such that this is the result. I think it's beyond amazing. The idea of a notional creator seems commonplace in comparison.

but what I don't get about the "big-bang" is if there was nothing there before how did it happen? How did the "singularity" appear???

CountessDracula · 20/03/2006 23:22

singularities dahling, singularities Grin

Mind-blowing, isn't it?
I'm not up on the latest theory, so can't help, QoQ.

I believe in the Big Bang Theory, science all the way for me, i certainly don't think there is some superior being called God sat on a fluffy cloud who created the universe.

Alternatively there is the Eric Idle explanation.............

Just remember that you're standing on a planet that's evolving
And revolving at nine hundred miles an hour,
That's orbiting at nineteen miles a second, so it's reckoned,
A sun that is the source of all our power.
The sun and you and me and all the stars that we can see
Are moving at a million miles a day
In an outer spiral arm, at forty thousand miles an hour,
Of the galaxy we call the 'Milky Way'.
Our galaxy itself contains a hundred billion stars.
It's a hundred thousand light years side to side.
It bulges in the middle, sixteen thousand light years thick,
But out by us, it's just three thousand light years wide.
We're thirty thousand light years from galactic central point.
We go 'round every two hundred million years,
And our galaxy is only one of millions of billions
In this amazing and expanding universe
The universe itself keeps on expanding and expanding
In all of the directions it can whizz
As fast as it can go, at the speed of light, you know,
Twelve million miles a minute, and that's the fastest speed there is.
So remember, when you're feeling very small and insecure,
How amazingly unlikely is your birth,
And pray that there's intelligent life somewhere up in space,
'Cause there's bugger all down here on Earth

Blush CD, no I hadn't heard of the Big Bang. So answer me this, and I don't mean that in a bad way, but how did the whole "Science" thing start. Who decided to invent it?

To invent science?
Or to invent the Big Bang?

learning... how can you not have heard of it? it's taught in school!

What I mean is, who decided that a single atom, or whatever would create a universe, with so many different cultures, diversities etc...

'How' is a good question but there just isn't any 'who'.
At least, not for me.
So I can't answer that one.

Report
Pruni · 20/03/2006 23:34

The cultures, diversity etc didn't come directly from that one point, though, they evolved. I mean, we're talking evolution over billions of years to get to the point that we see things at today, with billions more to go, probably. It's in constant flux.

A universe was created - cultures and diversities grew within.

Some for the better and some for the worse.

why does someone have to 'decide'

things pop in and out of existence all the time .. look at your little toe ... see how small it is .. that's because humans are evolving to a point where the useless little toe will just cease to exist ... so in millions of years, if we don't destroy everything of course, we'll all be 4 toed

sometimes things just happen by accident .. by glorious wonderful accident .. so can you imagine back in the dim and dark recesses of nothingness in this area of the galaxy it just happened .. like

some think some all-poweful creator, who just happens to be exactly like centuries of man have decided he is, created it all .. personally I believe god didn't create man .. but man created god (and I say man knowingly) .. look at all the forms of gods throughout history .. they exist out of man's need to understand

big bang .. small bang .. but definitely no big pointy finger going 'let there be' ..

god is the spirit that is inside us all .. god is what we all are.. it is not external to us .. and it is not described in the bible

well that's my take on it anyway ..
