Stopping cats getting into my veg patch

Is there a (nice) way to deter cats from my veg patch.

I love cats but the turned soil at seeding time seems to be the king of toilets for them. Problem is I don't want this mess in the ground with things I am going to eat and they kick my neatly planted seed rows all over the place, so it ends up a mess and with bare patches down the rows.

I have a net over mine but it is a very small patch so might not be practical for a larger area.

We tried lion poo, citrus peel, bottles of water, netting, supersoaker.

In the end only two things worked, a cat scarer (emits a high frequency noise that cats can hear) and we were told to remove it, and putting up a homemade plastic bubble with watering system (also told to take it down but explained to the cat owners that they had option one or two and make a decision).

We use a net, laid over the top of the soil and pinned down. Seems to annoy their paws.

I would suggest cat proof fencing.

Easy to do it yourself and the cats can't get into the garden.

I had to give up growing veg because of the bloody things. I hope you find an answer.
