Do all dogs do this?

Or is just my dog?
He eats his own poo, it makes me feel sick. He is so disgusting and I don't want him anywhere near me.

He hasn't always done it, he has started doing it in the past few weeks. It is really gross, he then keeps licking his lips because its stuck in his teeth (I think I am going to throw up!)

He could be lacking in some vitamins - have a look at \link{http://www.gurney.co.uk/pads/archives01.htm\this}

The vet recently said he was aneamic and he is being given vitamin tablets. Still think he is disgusting though, as if his breath didn't stink enough already!

I've just read that link and I am going to add some pineapple to his food to see if that puts him off. Thanks for the link WWB

mine did this when she was a puppydog, she grew out of it thank goodness

Be careful with the pineapple, we tried this and not only did it not stop her, it gave her the runs... it was lovely

My own favourite was when we took her to cleethorpes doggy beach (behind the leisure centre) and she ate horse poo.... We were chasing her around, trying to stop her but she ate lots

Then at 3am, crapped all over the bedroom, tons and tons of poo, horse poo at that, all repackaged in a dog poo shape

Minging, even DH gagged

So, no help from me really, just thought I would share Grin

My dog hasn't been doing it lately, he is still taking the vitamin tablets so maybe he was lacking in vitamin B, but how did he know to eat his own poo?!

yes dogs do do this, especially mother dogs, they will often eat their babies poo. We used to have a collie and a german shepherd in South Africa and they regularly ate each others poo, not nice and make for a very smelly breath'd dog!

Ewwwwwwwwww, there should be a warnign on this thread! Our dogs have never done this. Why do people keep dogs?

My dog doesn't eat her own poop but she does eat our pet rabbit's poop and believe me that stinks just as bad as dog poop especially if it's soft. No sooner has the poor bunny pooped on the floor and she's like a bloody vaccum cleaner.
