Herbal flea repellant?

Someone said (I think on MN) that there is a herb (or herbal mixture) that you can sprinkle on carpets etc and it kills the fleas.

Any ideas anyone?

I've seen these in pet shops but I think they only repel fleas, not kill them. They'll probably jump straight on to you instead!

Unless you can kill them , it would seem to be a bit of a waste of time. The eggs can live in the capet for moths and will hatch and restart the cycle

Well the person concerned - has dogs and frontline them - but her boys are covered in bites

I have had this happen, and it is vile your mate has all my sympathies.

my advice would be for your mate to go to the vet and get some prescription strenth carpet treatment spray.....they stuff you can buy in shops isn't strong enough. It isn't cheap, but it is the only stuff that worked for us. What is happening is that the fleas eggs are hatching and they are jumping up and feeding on the kids....gross!

We moved into a place that was infested and got rid of them with ordinary pet-shop flea powder. We just left it all over the carpets over night and vacuumed it up in the morning. We didn't have the kids then though which probably makes it a bit more awkward.
