We had our dog speyed when she was about a year old. She was a bit sleepy that day and a little wary of jumping for another day but otherwise she was right as rain. One thing to keep an eye out for is chewing at the stitches. If she worried at them she might need one of thsoe lampshades on her head to prevent her reaching them. But I'm sure your vet will give you all the instructions. Good luck!

DP is bringing her in and we'll collector her again this evening..

O it will be a long day..

hay hope all goes well for u today.

ours was done at 9 months after her first heat - she was v sick from it (the heat not the op) - she was v dosile for the day of the op (vet kept her in mainly from the prob b4 the op I think) anyhow the day after op she came home and was right as rain.

to stop her getting to the stitches we put a big t shirt on her and saftey pinned the bottom - only sure way as shes a sneeky little thing!

everything was fine thou. fingers crossed. it's ther wait thats' the worst bit.

hi, she is coming into heat again in Dec and i am having a baby in Dec so its the only choice we have.. Even if we did breed her i would only keep all the pups and DP nerves would never survive that!

Feeling better for hearing positive results after the op..

I know she will try and get at the stiches so i will have to steal your tip with the t-shirt.

haven't had a dog done but have just been through this with our dog like rabbit. She was quite for a few days but was soon back to her normal self. Just keep an eye on the stitches for possible infection or dog biting them. We had to go back for a 2 day and 10 day check-up (included in cost of op).

hi minnie,

we did want to breed once but like u i'd have kept the pups! lol - besides she had such a horrid time we didn't have a choice about getitng her done as she didn't stop bleeding poor thing. she was beeding for about 4/5 weeks in the end.

(she looked odd with the t shirt I can tell u, but it did the job we clipped it up and under nice and baggy so as not to irritate her, and took it off for her to go toileting.)

fingers crossed.

how did you get on with her? our little one had all pus/gump and horrid stuff in her womb - the vet later told us that she could have died - they pumped her full of hormones etc b4 we said no enoughs enough for her - as it really wasn't fair on the poor mite, still took her 4 dasy in the vets and about 3 days at home resting and she was back on full form again being a cheeky little monkey!

hope all went well for you. (don't worry about ringin ours went in on sat about 2 pm and the op was monday morning - I must have rung them about 4 times on the sat/sun and mon to make sure she was OK!) lol - least they know u care and love her.

All done, she is in good form and your tip on the rag worked a treat. Were fussing over her but she is in full recovery.. Have to go back to get the stiches out.. But were happy with the outcome..

DP thought i had lost it when i seen her, Pregnant and a sick dog got a little to much, ended up crying all day Friday evening..

Will watch out for the pus/gump.. God that sound horrid. Poor little things..

thank you for all your help,
