Apparently there are plans for the Government to stop supporting Liberia financially in March next year. If this does happen then the people of Liberia may have to start paying for their own healthcare. Liberia is one of the worlds poorest countries and needs our ongoing support.

Liberia has an extremely corrupt government. Public funds are mis-spent. As with most foreign aid, it doesn't go to those who need .

I think Liberia was found to have the corrupt government in the world very recently. I will see if I can back that up with a quick google.

Sadly I think a lot if our foreign aid gets into the wrong hands.

A recent survey by Transparency International found Liberia to be most corrupt nation in the world. If our government aren't willing to ensure our aid is spent properly, then we shouldn't be paying it at all.

How could anyone not want the UK government to persist in aid -and therefore positive involvement - in a country that plainly needs it?

The aid may be a drop in the ocean, and perhaps most Liberians will never see it - but at least the country would remain visible to us.

Liberian mothers are no less human that those of you posting here.....

Ok, for those of you slating my negativity, do you honestly think foreign aid goes to this in need in Liberia? by sending foreign aid we are giving the wealthy and corrupt more money. It's throwing petrol on the proverbial fire. I don't like my taxes going to a corrupt government in Liberia.
