Can the BBC website not afford a bloody sub-editor? Grrrr.

I've been told that after seeing the spark, the canopy caught fire and the balloon plummeted around 100ft through the air into the field.

So the canopy saw the spark then? (This is not someone speaking, by the way, but written by a reporter.)

I read it as whoever they were speaking to saw the spark and then saw the canopy catch fire.
