'The worse thing' instead of 'The worst thing'

Is it me...?

I keep seeing 'worse' used instead of 'worst' - not just on here but all over the place.

eg The worse thing about x is x
That's the worse thing I've ever seen
And the worse of it is xxx

etc

It's not just you: I've been noticing this as well. It's on a par with 'alot' IMO.

I guess it's one of those ones like 'can't be asked' instead of 'can't be arsed'.
