DS will be 4 yes?

musical bumps and statues - only preparation needed is source of music.

Simon says

chocolate game - throw a 6 to put on scarf hat and gloves and eat choc with a knife and fork, everyone else continues throwing dice, next six eplaces person eating choc

give each a sheet of newspaper - tell them to rip it into a horse/tree/heart - prize for te best - or each gets a different thing to rip out, guess each others (good game blindfold for teenagers/adults)

nurseryrhyme game - 2 teams, each take it in turns to sing a nursery rhyme, have to keep thinking of different ones - this can keep going as long as you like

decorate a biscuit - if you can stand the mess - pkt digestives, couple diff colours icing, smarties, sugar strands etc.

Get a bouncy castle anyway, jumping about will keep them warm.

mine coped with choc game at 4 - as long as you fiddle it so everyone gets a turn! - or have mini choc bars for those who didn't have any at the end

like the animals in a bag idea

6 items on a tray - take one away - child has to tell you what is missing

ds (almost 4) plays what's the time mr wolf and bear and the honey pot and duck, duck, goose at nursery and ADORES them (why oh why?)

thought these might make an appearance at his 4th b'day party

as well as a treasure hunt, bumps and pin the tail on the donkey (or parrot on the pirate or similar)

and isn't pass the parcel compulsary?
