Have to share my success with pizza party

So yesterday I held my son's third birthday party at our house. It was a pizza party and I was really worried that it was all going to go horribly wrong. But it didn't - it was really, really great. So if anyone is looking for an idea, this is what we did:

Each child got a pizza box and inside it was a lovely apron, paper chef's hat and a mini rolling pin, all of which they got to keep instead of getting a party bag.

They then got to roll out their dough (with a bit of help from the mums), put their toppings on and then into the oven. While the pizzas were cooking, we had a table set up in the next room with stickers and coloured pens and they got to decorate their pizza boxes.

When they were done, the pizza's were cooked and they got to eat them. I had made some big pizzas for the adults and they went down well without being a hassle to prepare and serve.

The kids then ran around going nuts and then, just before home time, they got to decorate a fairy cake each and we put candles in my son's, sang happy birthday and that was it.

I was astonished that the kids - despite being only 3 and some younger - managed to make their pizzas so well. There was very little mess (I used a plastic sheet under the table) and they seemed to thoroughly enjoy the different activities but still have time just to run about.

I only had 7 kids at the party (well plus younger siblings but 7 three year olds) and the goodies for each kid including a personalised invitation cost me about £8. Plus the cost of the food - which wasn't exhobitant. So they had a fab time for easily under £100.
