Wow that is a lot of kids ! dd's was at their school with bouncy castle etc but you pay a flat fee for up to (10 or 12) then per head above that so it would work out £££ for that many. For an activity place there are British Wildlife centre but again ££ for that many and Gatton Park do birthday themes but maybe not for that many. There are some nice halls around to hire though - the one in Outwood is about £35 iirc, for example - whcioh might be harder work to organise but work out cheaper for a larger number.

thanks for that LIZS, I am in a bit of a quandry if I don't invite whole year and then have non-school friends I want to invite. or how the hell do you only invite some of the class diplomatically?

Gatton Par looks good - have you been to one there? and were you pleased with your bouncy castle at H?

Only invite non school friends then send a cake to her school.

We tend to have a birthday tea for non school friends and have just a sective few approx 15 to the party. (in my experience if school children dont know the non school children the it makes it very difficult for not only birthday child but you as well as you will be running around making sure everyone is ok.) Theme parties are quite good- when my DD was 5 she wanted a dalmation party and everyone dressed up I have some lovely photos and everyone had a great time. All the games were to do with dalmations ie flap the dog across the room, pin the tail on the dalmation etc. We even made doggy bags to go home with. It was lovely as DD could help in getting things ready. Obviously you would need a hall or something similar.

Not been to Gatton ourselves but school has them in for themed activity days which dd enjoyed. dd enjoyed her bouncy castle party -could only safely get about 12 on it at once though so for larger parties they split kids into groups and alternate activities. For the same money, or even perhaps less, you could hire a hall and rent one though. There are other options available as part of a party package - swimming, indoor/outdoor games, disco etc.

Also we send in a bag of sweets in to class for DD to hand out at the end of day. If you dont agree with sweets then perhaps just a small gift ie a pencil etc

God, am tempted to just tell dd to choose ten friends and take them for arty at our local farm or something.

excellent idea about the sweets/gift.

we've always had her parties at home until now and invited just a couple of nursery friends, the rest being family/close friends and their children. we've recently moved into titchy cottage, so that option is sadly out. just cannot afford to spend £££ on a party!

thanks for the ideas!
