40th birthday - help

It's my DP's 40th birthday in May and we'd like to celebrate but don't know what to do. DP would hate a party so we thought maybe we'd go away - we were thinking Paris or New York(just the two of us). However we've never both spent the night away from DS (22MO) so I think we'd probably end up spending most of the time worrying that he was OK.

Any bright / creative / alternative celebration ideas out there...

Hi,

My friend had the same worries, so hired a cottage and invited friends to stay (sort of a party but much more relaxed). There were 5 couples who all had children ranging from 1 year to 8 years old.
Each couple were responsible for a meal so the cooking was shared and people could take the relevant food with them rather than having to go shopping.

My friend paid for the cottage as he reckoned that it was the same that he would have paid if he had a party/gone away to NY or similar.

HTH

Why don't you do a couple of practice runs before May.

Thanks both. I hadn't thought of a cottage and will look into it. We were planning a weekend in Glasgow at some point so maybe sooner rather than later to see how we get on.
