This weekend we had a Sublime Science party for 12 five year olds in East Sussex, it was A DISASTER. The 'presenter', was a sweet softly-spoken young totally inexperienced girl who had no concept whatsoever of how to interest young children, it was excruciating, like watching an inexperienced supply teacher get demolished by a single smart remark. The material should be fool proof but I gather the company CHARGE people to train as presenters and then take part of their earnings via a sort of pyramid selling profit model. They refused to tell me in advance, anything about the presenter we would get and were extremely rude afterwards when I asked about her prior experience, they also refused to give me anything but a PO Box for postal complaints. Needless to say their '100% Guaranteed Absolutely Unforgettable' party was unforgettable for all the wrong reasons, the ghastly stress of having twelve weeping five year olds to entertain for two whole hours having been flogged an incompetent inexperienced young presenter with pencil notes and a shaky hand. What started as a great idea is being exploited for maximum profit, this company are dishonest about the experience and extreme in their marketing. Very depressing, is there anyone out there who can offer an alternative with integrity? This is basic science and believe me an inaudible young girl in a lab coat isn't the 'no mess, stress or hassles-100% guaranteed' party experience one expects for over two hundred pounds!
