We were hoping to be in our new house in time for Thomas' 1st birthday on the 4th Spetember, we were so excite to be having a party and invite special friends around, start a clean slate with our beautiful son! Then we had the bombshell that DH lost his job, but then found another, I have had SPD forever, and now have wear and tear because it wasn't scanned early enough and it has a larger than average gap. My GP won't let me go back to work and our mortgage lender are being total Aholes about the whole thing - even though DH can afford to pay everything!
So the upshot is we can't get a mortgage yet, will probably loose our buyer, and the house.
Now the problem, our house is too tiny to have a party what can we do! Please help, not got long to organise!

Have you got a church hall nearby that you can hire? M&S do great pre-made party food platter thingies, as long as they have enough notice. Or you could do your own grub.

Or, if the weather's OK, how about getting everyone together for a picnic?

How about a child-friendly pub/restaurant?

loopredangel, sorry to hear you are having a tough time.
But do you really need a big party for yr ds's first b/day?
At this age it's really for adults. Why not just have a nice afternoon barbecue for your pals? Or a picnic in the local park?

I agree with Clary-maybe have something small with close family only. That's what we did for dd's 1st and 2nd birthdays and it was lovely. I think it's only at 3 that they start appreciating parties.

Hope things improve for you, it sound like you are having a tough old time at the moment.

Thanks for the support everyone. We don't plan to have a massive party, just very close friends and family only, but our house is still too small! We are now thinking of taking him to Jungle Gym on the day - it's awkward because it's a Monday, so people are in work, but at least immediate family can come along.
