DS1's 11th birthday party - do I still do party bags? If so, what goes in them?

DS1 is having his party next Saturday at an indoor climbing centre. There'll be DS1 and four other boys all aged 10.

They'll still want party bags won't they? What on earth - besides sweets and cake - do I put in the bags? I also have to do one for a nephew who can't make it (also 10) and nearly nine year old niece who are coming to the family party.

DS2 (5) I can manage!

Thanks.Smile

My DD is 8 and went to a more "grown up" party recentyl where a girl turned 11...she recieved a Claires Accesories gift card for a fiver.

I think you could maybe get them some kind of trading cards? Or whatever weird things boys like? A party bag might be too babyish for 11 year olds.

DD's 11th birthday party is next week and I'm not doing her party bags.

But if you really want to do them, how about giving them a comic like the Beano or the Dr Who magazine? You can roll them up (nonsense gift on the front permitting) and wrap them in birthday paper.

Please tell me the party bags have stopped by age 11!!??

My DS is on 5 and I already loathe thinking of how to fill them.

Like the comic idea though. Is that £2 a child?

I caved and did party bags. Don't think I'll be doing them again for DS1 though. I put in some mini bags of Maltesers (I refuse to call them "fun size" - there's nothing "fun" about it), some football stationery stuff bought in a multi pack from Tesco, a glow stick. There was something else cheap but I can't remember what. Varied it a bit for DS2's bag and his girl cousin.

The comic idea is a good one.
