I've been having the same problem. Have ordered a couple of books for dh (about photography) and might get some aftershave/moisturiser as he is really into that stuff. MIL has got him a jumper and bil is getting a briefcase.

Would he be interested in a magazine subcription - dh already has one to Men's Health or I would have got that. Or belt, wallet, you could even get a star named after him apparently.

I won't get clothes as he has too many now but in previous years I have got him: bathrobe, pyjamas, jacket, jumper.

Don't forget socks and slippers - very suitable for the over 40's

I bet Nomdeplumes Dh really looks forward to birthdays!.

My Dh is 35 in a few weeks, I've paid for us to go to a posh hotel for a night, after a social function we're going to- means he can drink, we can have a kid free lie in, a swim even. He's well chuffed with that.

For DH I booked us (inc ds age 3) cheap flights for a weekend in Rome. Slight ulterior motive as DH not that keen on holidays so this was a done deal...he enjoyed it.
