Does anyone else find it annoying when people don't reply to rsvps?
Sent invitations out for my dd's birthday party and have only got half of the replies. I find it annoying as I gave them a date to rsvp by(one week from when I handed out the invitation) and as it's a soft play party I need to know definate numbers. I resent having to chase people up, is it that much of an effort to call/email me to tell me they are coming or not. Grrr-just think it's bad manner....

Yes, this really is infuriating. I have sent out invites to dd's class and have only had 2 replies out of 20 invites. Invites were distributed/put in school bags by class teacher to ensure there were no mix ups. Like you I need def numbers for a playbarn party. When is it ok to start chasing up replies?

It always happens. I factor it in now! So hand out invites, then stand in the playground and collar parents a week later. Had to do it several days in a row. Very irritating. Particularly when you get a 'yes', then pay for the child, then they don't turn up, and the parents don't even have the manners to mention it when you next see them in the playground.

Will try and catch parents in the playground, but unfortunately majority of children are picked up by childminders or get school buses home. We live in quite a rural area. I suppose it serves me right for not keeping the phone numbers from previous invites I have replied to

If they don't reply and then turn up, don't let 'em in

I once cancelled my sons party cos of this.
We were having a disco, but only about 7 replied so I rang them and we went bowling instead. Anyone that turned up at the disco would have been dissapointed. one women rang me and I said I had cancelled due to people not replying!!

I am really tempted feistybird.
DD is getting very upset that no one wants to come to her party because the replies are so few. Let's hope I can get some positive replies today.

DD is only going to be 5 and this is her first proper party.

Well so much for chasing up replies. Managed one more positive, so we are now up to four (including dd). The rest that I managed to speak to played dumb and said they would need to get back to me. Beginning to wonder if I will need to cancel, dreading breaking news to dd.

I hope you get more replies West, it would be a real shame having to cancel your dd's party. Maybe now that you have given them a prod they will reply. I honestly don't see what the problem is - people should know if they are either busy that day or not, it's not rocket science! I don't know if it is laziness or what, I always make sure I reply however busy I am.
