Should i consider pull ups?

DS has started to wriggle, squirm, scream and kick when i'm trying to hold him down long enough to put a nappy on him. He is 14 months and wearing size 5 nappies. I was considering putting him in pull ups to make life less stressful for us both, but a friend said i should wait to use these until i'm potty training him because she things the novelty of the new pullup will help motivate them when training.

What do you think?

I would. I think all this stuff about potty training is overstated. I worried loads about getting it exactly right - nothing we did made much difference really. We did use pull ups for toilet training and had been using them for ages before that, and it went fine in the end.

I think when potty training pants are best to be honest and not pull ups - my sons theory was that pull ups were diapers and you are supposed to pee in them. His creche also asked parents when potty training not to use pull ups. I would switch to pull ups now.

i would, it's so much easier when they get to the thrashing about stage than attempting to get normal nallpies on.

ds has been in them since 14mo and potty traing never even crossed my mind tbh, i was planning on him being naked all summer and doing it that way

surely real pants would be more of an enticement than pull-ups?

bamboobutton and timmette

i think i agree that pants are better for potty training, as this is the end goal ultimately.
This is my first child so i'm still very much finding my feet and everyday is a new lesson for me.
But thank you for your viewpoint, I think i might get some pull ups on the way home today from work.

Yes i would get pull ups if I were you. Pants are better for Potty training, as I think pull ups just confuse them and they cant tell if they are wet or not. Make life a little bit easier for yourself!

Yes definitely put him in pull ups now - has saved my sanity! Until I realised they don't do them in size 4+ so I am stuck now until he is in size 5s.

Oh and for poos - change him in the bath especially handy if you have an over-bath shower!!
