An etch a sketch or paintless book are great ideas.....having him "read" to you while you nurse or you reading to him while he sits next to you....simple puzzles....musical activities (preferably with a volume control!)....magnadoodle for toddlers

A shape sorter, books, the egg box toy, push down and race of toy, puzzles, all keep little one amused for a little while - maybe have a small basket of toys for while your breast feeding - dealing with baby so they are fun/different to play with instead of relying on toys that they have day in/day out.

Cbeebies .

Or all the saucepans, spoons and tupperware from the kitchen, with some empty boxes of food, play food etc. Goes down a treat in our house!

I had a constantly feeding baby and an 18month age gap so I can sympathise...what my son ended up liking best is our playing games where he did the actions and I gave the suggestions. For example, we had a beanie baby chicken and I used to make the chicken beg him to be put in various places and then be really grateful if he obliged! Another great favourite is having him pop up at various places around the room and pretending to be astonished.Unfortunately it was a bit of a rod for my own back because I am still having to play all these games a year on and I am no longer feeling so grateful with a monkey of a 1 yr old crawling everywhere at the same time. But he still thinks they're all sidesplittingly funny

Cbeebies was also a great sanity saver and I became quite addicted to some of the programmes.
