Toilet training / Groundhog Day

Help!!!!

Have just started toilet training DS who is 28 months. I decided to go straight to the toilet with a toddler seat, and have been letting him run around with no nappy on, sitting him on the toilet every 20 - 30 mins. Have been at this a few days now and he has yet to pee actually in the toilet. It seems to me like he is deliberately wee-ing on the floor....?!

There is usually no sign beforehand that he needs to go, but when he does pee on the floor, he looks really pleased with himself and says "uh - oh - pee!!" What am I doing wrong, or not doing?! Any advice please? DD is 13 and feels like a lifetime ago we were toilet training. And I have been told that boys are notoriously difficult to train. AAARRRGGGHHH! Thank God for laminate flooring and Bounty roll.

It might be that he is not ready yet - 2 yrs 4 months is quite young for a boy IME.

He is not weeing deliberately, the message from bladder to brain atm is 'oooh need to wee RIGHT NOW' as opposed to 'oooh I need a wee in a minute'.

Go back into nappies, give it until the summer and try again.

(Oh, and both of mine went straight to a trainer seat, good plan )
