As we don't have Sky they've never seen Spiderman,Ben10 et al. I know all their friends do.

They never play at superheroes, don't think they really know what one is. Just slightly concerned they're missing out as I'm sure I read playing superheroes is good for small boys.

From my experience most rec kids are constantly playing superheroes, just seems a bit strange that my dss never do.

We haven't got sky either but DS2 loves superheroes (especially batman) mostly just from films on tv and we have got some on dvd.

I think if they were really into them they would have discovered them without sky.

we don't have sky, though my ds sees the odd thing on my parents.
He was well into powerrangers, and played it, at pre-school despite never having seen it at the time.
Doesn't seem to matter I don't think - they may play superheroes at school with the others, but not at home because they have each other?

No honestly concerned I'm an ex rec teacher love seeing littleboys with capes on charging around pretending to be Batman and the like.

It just seems a bit odd when they don't,I know the majority do.

I thought you were gonna be one of these posters who boast about their children who never watch tv and only play with organic wooden toys.
Sorry to accuse you of being smug.

We have cable and neither of my boys (6 and 4) have ever wanted to watch the superhero stuff. They've never wanted any of the merchandise either.

They did ask for Power Ranger toys when their friends had them at school, but they didn't really play with them much.

Apparently they do join in with their friends superhero games in the playground though. It never seems to have bothered them or caused them any problems socially.

we don't have sky and DS1 is pretty much still on Cbeebies because of his younger brother - yet he tells me he plays gormiti (whatever that is) and Ben 10 and secret agents with his friends - He is often a transformer (I remember them from when I was younger) I think he just makes it up in his head when he hears other kids talking about it.

I don't have any intention of educating him - it will happen soon enough

Not all little boys are into superheroes. My DS has been into them for ages, since before he turned 3 and definitely before he'd seen them on TV so it's not necessarily caused by TV. He saw the comics and was gripped by the pictures and it's always been a struggle to get him to buy Cbeebies or similar age-appropriate magazines.

Lots of his friends have no interest at all in superheroes but are gripped by dinosaurs, diggers or wildlife.

We don't have Sky, but ds is into all superheroes of all kinds.
I think it's the idea of invincibility that's attractive, not the programmes themselves and mainly because a couple of his older cousins like them all, and he really looks up to them.

DS insists on having Power Rangers everything, even though he's never watched an episode. Loves Ben10 but has only watched one episode on Youtube when we hunted it down for him. He couldn't make head nor tail of it but seemed to like it.

But right now he's crazy about Star Wars, and only wants to be a superbaddy, like Darth Vader or Darth Maul .
