What words do your children have for things, that actually make sense?

The other day Ds1 (5) was asking me for another 'apple pie-angle'

I realised he meant an apple turnover. Quite clever really!

DSD (4) always used to say she was going to help "love" after her little sister

This isn't really a thing but I thought it was a clever way of describing something (well I would wouldn't I ?

My ds has just started full time school this month and after a couple of days he told me the days are too long and they should be zig zagged (basically meaning one long day then a staying till lunchtime day )

made perfect sense to me

DS says flutterflies for butterflies, or used to - he's realised what it should be now

And another one is "armbow" for elbow. We've explained it's elbow but he looks at us as if we're mad - "It is not an ELbow, it is my ARMBOW!"

But DD1 mainly with food (eggs to be eggsact(!))

DD1 (nearly 3) called Conkers, 'Clunk-its',this year-the first year she has noticed them, which I thought was a great name for them.

She calls her trampoline 'the chimp' though-which is not quite as sensible, but which I do quite like too.

dd used to call fried eggs flat eggs (actually she still does, it's one of those words that stuck)

My sons call the trapoline a "bounceline" and the best one is when playing with lego and building helicopters or other flying mobiles they call the bits under a helicopter that touch the ground either "standers" or "landers". I've no idea what they are really called, but i'm sure you know hat they mean just from those 2 words!

DD when she was about 2 called our wardrobe a 'hide a clothes'. The conveyor belt in the super market was a 'concarry belt'.

It all seemed very sensible to me

My ds says see you later gladiator rather than alligator. I like it so much that I say it now.

My ds used to call children chuntys, he called Safeways Sameways, Christmas was Missmass. School was Scooowoo, all have stuck, he is now 12, and gets very embarrased, which makes it all the more fun for me.

Oh and the best ever was: He was at his nannys and points to the gramaphone in the corner and says "Whats that Nanny?" Nanny says "Its a gramaphone" Ds says, "My grandmas phone doesnt look like that!"

My parents were looking after DD one day, and doing a bit of gardening at the same time (my garden - I'm so spoiled) when they had to phone me for DD to tell me they'd found one of her teddy bears 'in the overgrowth'. Suffice to say the reason teddy was lost in there was becaue the undergrowth IS seriously overgrown.
